How to don't charg ipod when connected

Hi,
I have a 3? generatin ipod, and I like to know if is possible to connect my ipod to pc without charging it, to safe his battery.
I use a firewire connection.

there is no need to worry, abjok. the ipod battery doesn?t overcharge and suffers no "memory effect". when it?s full it stops charging regardless of what the battery meter says. check out our FAQs (http://ipodlounge.com/faqs.php) for more info on the ipod battery and other useful information. :)

make sure you eject the ipod after syncing using windows' safely remove hardware feature located in the system tray, in order to avoid unnecessary wear and tear on the harddrive.
