Yes but you can get some sort of pin/attachment thingie to sort it out. There might be some tax issues too.
Use the ####ing search button.
OH! And welcome to iL ;)

you will need to get an adapter to the UK outlet (what is it over there? 220? I forget, it's been awhile since I've had to buy a UK plug) which can be purchased on the apple site in a package with a bunch of other european adapters.
If you're going to buy from the states, I suggest getting an American friend to purchase one in a store and ship it to you with a "gift" notation, otherwise the duty and taxes on such an item will negate any cost difference of purchasing in the US. Additionally, if that person lives in New Hampshire, they will not have to pay sales tax or shipping on the item, which cuts the overall cost.
The only other thing is that an american iPod will not have the european volume cap- however, this is apparently in violation of a French noise law. I'm not sure if a) you go to france often or b) that the law is particularly enforced, but be aware that there are some differences in the American and UK iPods.

Apple does sell a kit of adaptors but the price is almost the same as a power supply. Why can't they just sell the specific adaptor is beyond me! I live in China and depending on where you buy the iPod, you can wind up with a US, UK or European adaptor. I just bought a US power supply with right adaptor and have a spare supply since it was almost the same price - since then I was in Bangkok where you can buy any international adaptor you need and they are original Apple equipment - go figure!

Hey,
I ditto feelthefire. I thought about buying an iPod whilst I was in the States and taking it back to Australia, but I realised we have different voltages.
I think its 110V in the U.S and we have 240V in Australia. I'm not sure what it is in the U.K but if you did think about getting one from the States, check the voltages and you might need to buy an step up or step down voltage adaptor to charge it in the UK. They are a little pricy and you might not want the extra hassle of using all these adaptors to charge your iPod.

SURE! YOU USED THE SEARCH BUTTON! Of course! I didn't bother to check it out, but you did! But MIRACULOUSLY, I found 2 pages worth of entries and you found nothing! WOAH. Or maybe, its simply to do with the fact that you have an issue with spelling!
And #### off about Cris Ron. He'd beat the crap out of you on any pitch, any day.

It'll be fine, last year one of my mates from the US bought his iPod over here to Australia, where we have 240V, and his iPod charger worked and everything, after he got a plug adaptor.

American wall outlets are 120V. You can go to a best buy or equvalent store and buy a step down UK charger for about $15, but it won't match all your other factory apple stuff.
