alrighty, heres the deal... im installing this HU in my car:

It feautures "iPlug", basically an ipod-HU connection that allows for maximum sound quality. downside, though, is that you cannot actually control the iPod with the HU. Basically, ill probably just make some playlists for each genre so i dont crash or anything  . since this "iPlug" takes care of actually playing the music, i still need something that will charge my iPod (30Gb photo) and still hold it somehow to where i can access the controls. I dont need FM modulation or anything like that, obviously. Also: I do not have cupholders (yeah... no comment :D ). I really like the TEN flexdock:

but its only for mini. any alternatives you guys can think of, or am i just gonna have to have it mounted and have wires going al over the place? thanks

Wow, you and me are almost in the same boat. Im using a regular Apple Dock for the time being....but sure would like something that gave it support in the back so when i pushed the buttons the ipod was against some sort of backing or wall, not just nothing as the current dock model allows.

SiK Imp + Extreme Mac Extremity case kit. the imp provides charger and line out, the Extremity case kit provides mobility (case cover, belt mount, car mount).

You'll need to glue the case mount to the dash as the adhesive strip provided can't handle the weight of the iPod. Otherwise, it's great. I'm getting spare mounts for the side of my desk (who needs a dock?) and my other car.
