Can someone tell me the advantages/disadvantages of aux in? Im leaning toward doin the AUX in method since the ipod interfaces for most headunits "lag", plus your limited to a certain number of playlist. If i do the auxin method, i can access all my songs and use the ipod itself correct? So, all i'd need is some rca cables that plug into the headphone input of the ipod and a car charger?

Thanks in advance.

I love the AUX-in method. Inexpensive with great audio quality and no headunit control restrictions. Plus, it can be used with any audio device, not just iPods.

I don't use the iPod's headphone output. Instead, I use a car charger dock which has line-out for the best sound quality. I use the Belkin TuneBase (not the FM version) for my Mini.

whats the best car charger with a built in line out jack? Looking for one that sounds good, and gets the job done charging wise.

There are a number of variables for choosing a car charging dock. If you have an iPod Mini, I think it is best to get a dock that is designed specifically for the Mini for a smaller appearance.

The car's cigarette lighter location can also be an issue. Some docks will plug in and be "in the way". Most of them should have the capability to bend or adjust for your application. Also, many car cigarette lighters may "spin around" requiring some creativity during installation. Or you can get a dock that has a wire between it and the cigarette lighter, and mount the dock wherever you want.

Just make sure the dock you get does not have a built-in amplifier or volume control for the line-out. I'm very happy with the Tunebase (Mini only) but I can definitely see how it won't work for everyone...
