View Full Version : Ipod doesn't show up as a removable hard drive

Not only does it not mount to Itunes, but nothing is showing up in the Removable Media section of My Computer.
Windows XP Sp2
Itunes 4.9
USB2.0
Ipod Photo 30 gb, original firmware.
This setup has been working fine for the past few weeks.

Yes I've looked through the thread and apple website. The Ipod still works fine but goes straight to Charging when I plug it in.

I am having exactly the same problem. The IPOD goes straight to Charging mode without even showing the drive on Windows Explorer. It was working fine just a few weeks ago. Have absolutely no clue as to what is causing it & how to recover from it ...

all u hv to do is unplug the usb cord from the computer.
move it to another usb port. that will fix your problem
if u want to have your ipod show up as a removable hard drive
u hv to go to itunes and set it up that it sees it as a removable hard drive. or get a firewire cable... in that case it will be automatically
seen as a removable hard drive
