Hi All.

I tried to use AACGain recently however it does not seem to have affected my files.

I installed as per instructions.

I then "added files" to AACGain and hit Album Analysis button (I analysed the files that were in my iTunes music folder).

Obviousley this took a fair while (have over 3000 songs) however finished this and then cranked the level up to 95 db and hit Album gain.

AACGain then went through my collection reporting it had made the approriate changes.

When this had finished, I then copied the files from the iTunes folder to another location, then deleted all the music in the iTunes folder (moved to recycle bin, not just remove fromlist).

I then re-imported the changed files (via the Add Folders iTunes).

Prior to using AACGain, I took a note of a few songs details from iTunes including the "volume". I noted that one song for example, had a volume level of -9.9.

After I ran AACGain, and imported the changed iles into iTunes, I checked out the details of the same song expecting the "Get Info/Volume" to have move upward from -9.9. According to iTunes, the Volume level has not changed.

To double check, I went back to AACGain and noted that it reported the file had been changed.

Either I stuffed up using AACGain somehow, or iTunes does not report changes in Volume level on songs manipulated by AACGain.

Any ideas?

On another note, I read somewhere that AAGain can only apply in increments of 1.5 db. If this is the case, why is AACGain telling me all of my albums are now around 95db when some were originally as low as 87db, and some as high as 100db.

Thanks, garethg (a little irritated).
