My first iPod (4G 40GB) I dropped the FIRST DAY I had it. Let out a huge "Oh S*******T!!!!!!" so all the neighborhood children could hear on the way to the bus. (They will all understand someday. Some might understand already.) Thankfully, I pulled out my best soccer recovery move and tempered the blow by sticking my foot underneath it. Scratched the side, but no damage. Soon as I could, I sold it to my Father. Haven't dropped my new 60GB iPod photo. Bought it with a Skin at the same time with screen protector, wheel protector... I'm overprotective now...

believe it or not, my friend's ipod was.....

run over by a car! No Lie!

and still works. The LCD is cracked and you can't see the display at all - just some psychedelic color "design" , so it's on permanent shuffle. Kind of like having a shuffle, come to think of it, but with larger capacity.

60 gig iPod Photo out of the box for 7 days. spent 12 hours on the 6th day putting my music on it. I was on my way to work, change d the song and missed my pocket when putting it back in. It hit the concrete and fell apart on the 7th day. My life stopped my heart slowed. I put it back together and the hold function is stuck in the lock position. I am still in mourning for the fate of my iPod as it is undecided. It has absoutely no cosmetic damage and the clock works fine and the display is ok but the buttons don't work. 7 days. 7 single days (sniff).

I was carrying out to the car and I was holding it upside down. It slipped out of it's case and if got a small black scuff on it's top, but it still worked.

Yes, I was going to put my iPod down on my table in my sun room and there was a stack of games on the ground. I wasn't paying attention to the games so I walked into them and tripped. There the iPod flew half way across the room and hit the wall. I ran towards it, turned it on, and continued listening to it instead of setting it down. On went my day.

Was getting changed and forgot it was still on my belt! It slid out of the belt clip and crashed onto the hard tile floor. Thankfully it still works but it has a chunk out of the top of it and a nasty scratch on the screen. Im so dissapointed, i really wanted to keep it perfect, and no matter how i try to remove the scratch, i only make it worse!!! Now i have a wierd "ring" effect where my screen has misted up from using brasso :'(

Yep, dropped it twice. Both times it fell out of my pocket and onto the hard floor. Each time it fell on a different side, so there are some small dents on each side of my mini, but there not really noticable. Now I keep it in my zip pocket with a little gap for the earphones :)

I almost dropped my iPod (which I got yesterday) today. I was pulling it out of my pocket, not paying as much attention as I perhaps ought've and I felt something drop. Luckily (!) it was my Sony Ericsson T630 and not Eduardo (the iPod). The phone suffered a lightly popped off front cover, which easily popped back into place. Phew!

Heading for home during a 7-mile run last week and i tripped on a kerb and fell. Hard. iPod flew outta my hand onto the road about 10 feet away with a massive clatter.

Although it was 'protected' by an iskin thingey, she still died on me. All I'm getting now is apple logo and exclamation mark+folder symbol.

It gets worse. The 4000 songs I had on it weren't backed up. Cue massive depression. Didn't speak for 2 days.

I've tried banging it against table as suggested in forums, but to no avail. HD test showed up ### Hard Drive Fail.

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Anyone else had a similar experience? How do I repair?

I'm proud to say I never dropped it. But I think it must happen some day. Thinks fall all the time.

My brand new color 20 GB ipod has been through a lot.

I was being stupid and riding this little razer scooter while holding her* and of course the headphone cords got tangled in the handlebars. she was torn from my grasp and flung onto the hard cement. ! :( ! the only damage she suffered was a small dent on her top left corner.

Another accident was stupid and not my fault. I was just walking through the kitchen when the (you guessed it) CORDS (!!!) got caught on a drawer knob and she was again ripped from my hands and thrownl on the hard tile. (i posted a thread on this called "Stupid Cords" in caps) She only Suffered a few small scratches from this.

the third and final incident was by far the most annoying. this time it was my dad's fault. He wanted to see if the ipod could fit in one of those cassette cases, and in doing so scared her face horribly. (four perfectly straight, verticle scratches on her screen, so that when the backlight is on, they shimmer when you tilt her)

The Summary: Use Common Sense, where the cords under your shirt, cassette cases don't make good ipod cases, dont let your parents touch your ipod, and GET A WARRENTY!!!

ipod still works perfectly

*she, her = ipod

PS: if iskin or someone put this thread on their website, their profits would double in like two seconds!!

PPS: Linkin Park rocks, stock earbuds suck
