Its and odd thing. Im trying to back up data from this computer which has itunes on it, and on my normal computer (which is broken-badly) i always manage my music manually, which means hard disk mode. Now on this computer, my ipod is recognized and is managed manually, but in my computer it doesn't show it, and it did on my old computer

can anybody help me?

I have got a very similar problem, and here is the solution to my case.... hope it will help any of you

Once you have your iPod connected to the PC (you shouldl be able to see a "safely remove hardware" icon the task bar), right click on "my computer" and click "manage". The Computer management dialogue box should open up. Click on to "disk Management under "storage", and you should be able to see a bunch of harddisk and CDRom you got on the right hand side. You should be able to see your iPod as one of the disk on the right as well. Right click on your ipod drive and choose "change drive letter and path" then a dialogue box will pop up. CLick on the "Add" button and assign a drive letter to your ipod.

The problem why iTune or Windows Explorer aren't able to reconize your iPod is probably because it fail to asign the ipod a drive letter. So will will have to do it manully.

This is how I fix my ipod connection probelm.... I know how frustrated it is to get a new ipod and not be able to use it.... hope it could help.
