Hey guys.....this has become a popular topic and I a pologize for throwing out another thread but.......

Through a friend I have the opportunity to purchase some e2c's at $60....these would replace my Sony EX-71's.

My Sony's have held out for six months and have really become exposed due to the nature of the use (I commute daily and am always moving them around. I've had problems with the longer cord for the right side, sometimes I need to pull on the cord to get the proper amount of slack. The result of this pulling, and the hot and humid teperatures has caused the insulating cable to become frayed in many places and it has the overall feeling of silly putty in my hands. In short, I need replacements.

I love the sound that the Sony's produce but want to know if I am going to repeat this process twice a year (if not more). If that is the case, I will spend the extra $$$, or not so much more in this case, on something that will last longer and have at the very least the same amount of audio quality that the EX-71's do.

If I do decide to get the Shure's, I'd like options on getting custom sleeves made for them to get a better fit.

I'd like some opinions and options..please leave both at your convenience.

If you're going for custom, don't bother with shure E2c. Better off buying Ultimate Ears or Sensaphonics.

It all comes down to your budget. I really enjoy my e2c's and they have an awsome warrrenty.Eventually when I get the cash to spare I will purchase the e5c's. I would love to have a duel driver and I love the clear.

Cost is an issue....which is why I can even think about getting the e2c's. I'm getting a deal at 40% off. I am going to get, at a later date, some molds made from The Earplug Store which will give me the comfort level I want.

If you do the impression yourself- be very careful, and make sure you're precise and accurate. Although people have stated that it is an easy task, the impression is greatly important for a good fit in the end. So keep your mouth open while doing it! When I got my impression, an audiologist did it for me, but it seems very easy. It took him like 10 minutes. So curious how easy it really is, so let us know how it goes.

40% off isn't that huge of a deal. Most online retailers will sell the E2c for that price.

earphonesolutions.com, one of the sponsors of iLounge, sells the E2c brand new for $62.99, and they price match.

I agree completly. 60.00 is quite expensive for a pair of e2c's when you can get them new for that or less.

When I get my digi camera at home tonight I'll take a picture comparing the two for you.

The durablity totally blows away the sony's. Plus a 2 year warranty is included which is a great bonus.
