Hi, I am new to this forum and would really appreciate some help with my newly purchased Ipod Shuffle 1 gig. I have noticed since I opened the shuffle and put all my songs on it that whenver I go to play it in playlist order, it will skip random songs. I was listening to an album that had originally 20 songs when I put it on the ipod. The shuffle only played 13 of the 20, skipping random songs and just not playing them at all. I would really like to know why my ipod is skipping these songs in playlist mode and i would like to know how to solve this annoying problem. Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Maybe they were unchecked in the playlist when you loaded them onto the Shuffle.

nope, there were 168 songs in the library and all of them got transferred to the shuffle. thanks for the suggestion, but if anyone else has any input, it would be appreciated.

Did you by any chance do any tag editing on the tracks? If the ID3 tag information is corrupted, the songs will be skipped.

no, i have not edited any ID3 tag information. I have also noticed this. I restored my ipod shuffle back to the original factory state. I then autofilled the ipod shuffle with the songs from my library and noticed the shuffle now played the songs it skipped before, but is now skipping other songs. This is weird....

well its mostly off green day's album international superhits. more specifically, when i first started this post, the shuffle would skip the song Nice Guys Finish Last, which is 192 kbps. After i completely format the ipod and put all the songs back, it skips the song minority off the same album, which is also 192 kbps. It did, however, play Nice Guys finish last. This is just an example, it skips a lot more than just one.

alright i figured out that its not the shuffle's fault- its itune's fault. it puts my songs on the shuffle in a crazy order that it doenst allow me to change. By this i mean my albums are all divided. The 3rd song from one album is first on the pod, while the rest of the album is in the middle of the pod. However, hitting the button album to organize by album did not work, as whenever i plug the ipod back into the computer it shows that it has reverted back to the crazy order. My qustion now is- how can i organize the songs on the shuffle to play according to album?

what version of itunes do you have?

the problem could be the album names are not actually the same. there could be an extra space at the front of the name or something like that. clicking the column header that says "album" should sort by album like you said. if you want to try not sorting by anything, click the top of the column that lists the number (all the way on the left). then you should be able to drag things around anyway you want.
