I bought 3 different ipods and they all broke down. I returned the ipods 3 different times and decided to sell them after getting the refurbished ones (notice they are refurbished not new). They use old hitachi parts to make ipods and that kind of ####es me off and they charge us like 300 for these lousy things. Get an iriver you pay just the same and you get a higher quality player that can do more than an ipod.

And you know what im thinking that ipods will soon be boycotted because of their lousy service and product. The only ipod that is actually decent is the u2 ipod and my friend has only had a COUPLE of problems that he was able to get around with.
Of course to make the u2 ipod they were using quality parts not the junk hardware companies like toshiba throw out. Because hey its u2 if their ipod fails would it look good for u2? . No i dont think so, thats why they used top quality parts to make them and thats why they last longer than the regular ipods.

A previous post like this was removed due to blatant trolling (please see the Forums Policy (http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7588) on "trolling" if anybody is confused).
While constructive comment and debate is always welcome on iLounge, be forewarned that this thread will need to be closed or removed if it becomes another flame war between iPod owners and iRiver owners.

It wont turn into an iriver vs ipod war im just warning people about the consequences the ipod has, and hopefully if people see this they will not get ripped off and lose their money. Unfortunetly i never had a warning and guess what i got ripped off. Im not here to flame im here to advise people about these issues that apple needs to fix because sooner or later the ipod will become an obsolete device due to people actually realising the downside into getting these things. Again im not flaming ipod, im just warning people.

For your information, U2 iPods are made with the exact same parts as standard iPods. The only difference is the color of the casing, and the signatures of the band etched in the back.
Please do some research before making such ridiculous assertions.

Thats funny, I've had my iPod for almost 2 years and I've dropped it several times, and froze it in my truck once, and it still runs great with no battery issues.
Mine must be a complete fluke..........................

lol oz i did research and i believe it was true but thats just my opinion and im not gonna flame, if you belive that they are all the same sure i respect that but why do you think they cost more. Because of a black casing and the etched signatures. I mean sure, you buy a product thats got some superstar's name eteched on it, it will add to the cost but at the same time quality of the product has to be perfect or else whats going to happen to that celebrity that endorsed the product if its going to fail?.

AMD1014: We appreciate that you're looking out for us, but the next time you do, please explain your grievances more clearly, instead of just spewing meaningless generalizations and entirely unfounded assertions. This type of behavior only serves to destroy your credibility and make you appear to be a troll, even if your intentions are good.
With that said, the majority of us (including myself) have had excellent experiences with the iPod. Yes, iPods have their flaws, but users who have had absolutely horrible experiences with their iPods tend to be the exception, rather than the rule. There is a reason why iPods still sell.

Why would Apple use different parts for their U2 iPod? If they had access to these "quality" parts, why wouldn't they choose to implement them in all their products? True, the U2 iPod is $30 more expensive, but it comes with a $50 coupon for the complete U2 boxed set available on iTMS, as well as additional bonus materials for U2 fans. Besides, U2 doesn't need an iPod to promote themselves. They're already one of the top rock bands in the world, and the quality of a small plastic device with their name on it wouldn't change that.

Personally, I don't think he deserved to be banned. He seemed more misguided than malicious. But I suppose that's up to the iLounge mods...
Jeff,
No history, but what you can't see (as in post history) was enough....

I've had iRivers (loved 'em) and now an iPod (love it). So far the iPod has been flawless and I'm loving the iTunes integration.
The kids have iRivers and they're very happy with 'em.
Is one better than the other? Who cares? Just turn up the volume and enjoy...

I looked at the iriver and was thinking about it before buying the ipod but it was too bulky for me so I purchased the ipod.
That was the main reason and the guy who I know works at the electronic shop said ipods were better (??) but at least there are a lot more accessories etc available.
Whether it's better or not .. I like my ipod (if not for the battery being non user replacable - my only beef).
wow, sadly nos nothing of U2 iPod, mor e$$ cuz it comes with 50$ off U2 music( from iTunes) and its specail edtion os its 30$ more

Not sure what you mean by the nazi reference - we have no problem with folk making constructive comparisons, many have if you care to search, but we can do without obvious trolling.

Actually it says,
Wow, sadly you know nothing about the U2 ipod. it costs more because it comes with a $50 discount on the U2 catalog, and it's a special edition, so it costs more.
i'm sorry. couldn't help it :)

Why don't you know what I'm talking about? Veritas called me a nazi and I reported the incident to the moderators. Was any action taken? I cant write Marvin ###e's name. The standards of conduct here seem strange and skewed.

Well, not knowing about the specific incident you're referring to, I can't comment on it personally.
However, what MadPict is referring to is that the posts by this user that were removed are the ones that counted in this case. Those initial posts were profane and blatant trolling by a user who signed onto iLounge for the express purpose of trying to start a flame-war.
If what you can see in this thread was enough to get somebody banned, we would probably have significantly fewer users on the system.

There's no rule against calling someone a Nazi, especially when that's how they act, and it's not all that different than calling someone a Communist, a Republican, or a Democrat. And no action was taken because you were found to be in the wrong, perhaps you should not try to open old wounds unless of course you enjoy bleeding. BTW, my name is Verita'... not Veritas. It was good that the OP was banned, he broke several forum rules and everyone hates floods of spam.

I thought your nazi remark was aimed at me for banning the member who started this thread. I have had this insult (amongst many others) thrown at me before now and assumed this was just another instance.
I have found the post in question, the thread has been isolated to prevent any further deletion of posts. We will deal.
And I missed all the fun..........

Oh boy, I just don't understand why people get so heated with electronic goods.
Anyways, thought I chime in about iRiver.
I recently got a iAudio X5 30GB, it was supposed to replace my iRiver H340. Now my girlfriend is the new owner of a iPod color 60GB, so we have 3 of the best DAP on the market.
Now I was gonna sell the H340 but just can't do it. I'm not blown away by the iAudio X5 anymore, in fact I actually starting to get annoyed with it. It is such a slick and neat package but the controls are putting me off.
The iPod 60GB is ticking me off, I think iTunes is to blame. I'm trying to drop photos and album art to work on the player and it is a nightmare to use iTunes 4.9 for this chore and my girlfriend does not have patience for this thing. So luckily I bought Anapod software and made the easy drag and drop sync and dumped iTunes.
As for the iRiver H340, I'm still using it because it just works and I can operate it with my eyes closed with the LCD remote and the drag and drop file system is easy to use. The video feature is pretty cool and whoever says you play video with no sound is an idiot. There are no speakers built in, the sound plays in your headphone.
I say if you still like the iPod menu and DB system, stay with your iPod but if you manage your own music folders, the iRiver just plainly works without all the sync issues that iPod & iTunes has.

Ask a holocaust survivor if it's much different. Shame on you. When people believe it's no worse to be a Nazi than a Republican, another holocaust will happen. This is the first time I've heard someone suggest that "it's not all that different". I pray that most people know better and I think they do. Still it's frightening to hear this from a Jew!

Spare me your preaching, I have Holocaust survivors on both sides of my family, you're quite ignorant on this matter.
Study your history, the Nazi's were a political party and so are the Reps, the Dems, and the Communists. Each of these groups have killed millions of people, especially the Communists. If what you wrote to me was said to anyone else, they'd call you a Nazi as well, you were grossly out of line. The point is that calling someone a Nazi isn't against any rules, in fact enforcing such a rule would in itself be somewhat Fascist. If you don't enjoy being called a Nazi, then mend your ways. Out of respect of this forum and humanity in general I wont repeat your statements of bigotry, but I suggest you drop it and move on.
