View Full Version : So I just got my E2C's...
I'm very dissapointed in them. No it's not because they have no bass, more like they have too much. It feels so overboosted, just like every lowgrade mass market headphone on the market. Except it didn't cost 20 bucks, it cost 70. I'll give them a chance for 2 weeks while I'm on vacation, but if they don't grow on me by then I'm going to be returning them. Oh well..

I had the E-2c's as well they were ok but I went to the E-3's and love them.
I prolly would love the E-4's and E-5's but my wallet wouldn't right now.:) :(

If you don't want to spend too much more than what you paid for the shure e2s, you should consider the etymotic er6is. The etys have more clarity and the bass is there, but not over-pronounced.

Yeah, I had the first impressions as you when I got mine earlier this month. The earphones grown on me though. The sound seems to have balanced out, not sounding as horrible as before. It sounds good now IMO. Just give them a chance and they should grow on you. That what happened with me and I was very disappointed before.

if you don't like E2 bass.. get E3's or ety's ER6i.. much detail sound than E2..
but don't forget almost all phones, won't have their best sound out of the box.. it will gradually change and achieve it max potential after sometimes..
that's a burning period ppl often says, so i'll recommend you to give it try for week more and used it often, if u still don't like it it's time to send it back and get a new pair of E3 or ER6i
I do really like the wire setup.
Also, I might make a nice review to help others with their decision.
EDIT: With treble boost on it does sound better.
The bass really is great on Queens Radio Ga Ga though, I feel like the drums are on either side of me :D

Haha that what I did before. Higher up the treble the first few days or so. It'll get better. The funny thing it was still bassy with treble booster on.
Do you really think that the breakin is a significant change?

I know for my earbuds (I have 2 pairs of diferent kinds) I have to adjust my EQ settings for each to get them to soudn right. One pair doesn't have enough bass for my tastes, so I use a bassy EQ setting like Dance, the other has too much bass but not enough trouble so I use a different setting for that pair.
have you tried messing with the EQ settings to see if maybe that helps?

There's no such thing as a break in period with canal headphones. The time you're refering to is actually your brain getting used to the sound waves the are produced by the canal phone.
