View Full Version : Problems with New pair of stock headphones

I've had my iPod (I believe it is G3: it has the four red-backlit buttons above the wheel) for roughly two years now. During most of that time I actually enjoyed the stock headphones more than most people on this board seem to. They fit my particular ears rather well, and the sound was better than most other (admittedly low-quality) earbuds I had owned.

Unfortunately, natural wear and tear got the better of the original set of earbuds. They landed in a puddle once (and survived, amazingly), were squashed endlessly in my bookbag, etc. The adhesive holding the metal plates on had deteriorated significantly, and the sound quality had as well.

So yesterday, I went to the Apple store near my house and bought another pair of the stock headphones, complete with inline remote (my second, as it came packaged with my 20G iPod). Upon listening to them, however, I noticed a slight but unpleasant buzzing in the right earbud, even around the low-to-mid volume range. They have not taken any damage, as I noticed this literaly right after removing them from the package.

Does anyone have any suggestions (I'd like to avoid returning them if there are changes I can make myself)? I read the sticky on burning-in headphones, and may try that over the next few days.

Thanks for your time and sorry this developed into such a lengthy post.
