My name is Daniel Mawson and the below link is to my blog detailing
the events leading up to my soon to be legendary parachute off of the
Empire State Building! Be sure to read my blog for soon to be
released information regarding my epic jump which shall passed down in
the annals of extreme sports history as the greatest accomplishment of
man on God's greatest skate park, New York City!

Hi,

I like the idea, is it some kind of fund raising event? How do you ensure you don't hit the building once you've deployed your parachute?

I will be selling tickets to the event. All profits will go to the Red Cross to help the starving in Africa. I will be updating my blog later tonight to lay out how I'll get down safely.

Well good luck on that, I hope you raise lots of money.

ANy New Yorkers on the boards? If so, get your ### down to the ESB and support this guy!

Sounds bloody dangerous! Good luck with though, and hope you make a lot of money for charity from it!

How'd you get the Red Cross on board to support you on an illeagal BASE jump off the Empire State?!

"...my epic jump which shall passed down in

Yea, in your dreams. I'm calling Bullshi-it on this one. The Red Cross would never sign on to something like this not to mention that there's no link to this stunt on their site. The Empire State Building has specific security to prevent suicide and BASE jumpers and there's no chance in hell the NYPD will let this happen, especially with the recent terrorism in London, have fun in jail.

No one will buy tickets knowing that you'll be shut down, if you're lucky you'll make a few hundred bucks from some weirdos who want to see someone die. If everyone knows you'll jump on a certain day, then everyone would come to watch without buying a ticket.

No BASE jumper would ever refer to the sport as "parachuting" as you have, nor do they discuss their plans on the net because it always alerts the authorities.

Given your lack of intelligent planning, you're probably stupid enough to actually attempt this anyway with a standard parachute without the necessary modified pilot.

And why are you posting this on an iPod forum?

Things I've done today: Realized that apparently am waaay more cynical than some of you out there.

I'm inclined to lean towards Verita's POV - sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. I dunno - selling tickets? Why can't I just stand down on 33rd or 34th street and see the "show" for free? And while I'm not sure about the Red Cross, there's no way NYPD is letting this go down.

And yeah, why on an ipodder site?

Though, if I do happen to turn on the radio/TV in, what is it, 21 days? and see that this actually happened, I'll do the obligatory I STAND CORRECTED post, okay?

I'm with Verita' on this one too...I mean, the Red Cross probably wouldn't condone someone doing something illegal...and the NYPD sure as hell wouldn't close down a street for him to land safely on..unless his grand finale was landing on a taxi or something

If he does go through with this, well then I'll believe him, but I'm still skeptical.

Its in the Lounge part of the ipod forums so it's kinda like the off topic talk section, but i'm still a bit sceptical if the police will let you go through with this lol

Your kidding?
If not, please try not to damage the building on your way down.
I love the city, but hate to have to fret about people jumping out of he sky and landing on me.

Here's a little quote from this functioning re-tard's site:

"Many a time have I used my parachute to fly down from an airplane soaring hundreds of miles an hour over past the unforgiving bitter cold of the winds, but never have I nor anyone else employed mankind's greatest creation, the parachute, in harmony God's greatest gift to mankind, the very tall building."

ROFLPMGO, not only have people been jumping off manmade structures for centuries with parachutes, BASE jumping as it's known today is more than 100 years old, and there have been countless more "EXTREME" BASE jumps from much more "EXTREME" locations.

Congratulations on your nomination for the Darwin Awards, but don't get me wrong, I truly hope you succeed, the world is in dire need of fewer stupid people.
