I have had these for a few months now. These babys produce beautiful bass and outstanding clarity. I use these only for long trips or when I feel the need to block the noise from the outside world. I also use these for monitoring in my recording studio. If you have $100 to blow, these are a great deal. Granted, they are kind of big, but the quality makes up for it. I have 128 kbps mp3s on my iPod and they sound great with them.

The MDR-V6/7506 were my favorite headphones for years and years. Their sound is incredibly flattering, and they work well with a whole range of range of music -- without amplification. I've since moved to more pricey phones, but I can see why you're a fan of these. Very good, punchy sound for rock'n'roll.

They were my first good set of headphones (the V6 version) and I remember them fondly. However, now I think there are lots of other phones that compete very well for the $100 Sony is asking for them.

After an initial period of liking the 7506 I found it rather strident... didn't hang on to it for too long. But the 7506 are very iPod friendly, are pretty portable for full-sized cans and do isolate usefully. As you say, a good deal IMO. I prefer the HD25-1 by quite a margin but well, the price difference is quite a margin too.

My Dad does quality control for post production (has for a few decades) and, the MDR-7506's are pretty much the tools of the trade in video/audio sync in hollywood post production houses...At any rate, he gave me a pair for my eighteenth birthday, and I've never seen anyone wearing a pair outside of his work...apparently they're popular enough to find a thread about em on this forum...anywho...I've been using them now for over a year and I'm sold...sure, they're bulky...and a six foot coiled cable is very unweildy at times...but, talk about sound reproduction...for their price...they just perform...deep bass...quality highs...perfect for rock...and though they may not have BOSE written on them...the word PROFESSIONAL works for me...very pleased is all I'm sayin.
