I'm about to send just my unit into Apple to see if the whine noise is normal from using the touch buttons as some people notice it while others don't. My question is, if they decide to replace the unit with a new one, do you get a whole new box or just the unit? The only reason I'm asking this is because I have coverage from Best Buy and they typically require the serial numbers on the unit to match the packaging before they will service it. Granted, I know they don't write down serial numbers on the original purchase, but I don't want to run into problems should I need it replaced after 1 year.

No, you will just receive an iPod in a small box in plastic wrap, just like you send if off. Usually they will send you back your repaired iPod, but it is a possibility you will get a new one entirely.

I just took mine to an APPLE store with a broken one and they gave me a brand new one but without the original box. They took it out of a different box and just gave me the IPOD.
