Hi folks,

I an currently doing my Master Thesis in Coputer Science. Therefore I want to analyze music libraries.
How big are they, which genres are in use, what playlists a.s.o.
I wrote an application which automatically parses iTuses Libraries and extracts the information.
My biggest problem are the libraries! I already asked all people around me, but I just got a few libraries. Too few for a statistically significant result.
So, I NEED YOUR HELP. iTunes has got an export funtion, which generates an XML file containing all information about the library (NOT the songs itself). If you could send me your libraries exported and zipped(!) (c.roelle@gmx.de), you would help me a lot. I am aiming for over 100 libraries.

To some of your this might sound suspicious. I understand that. But the XML file contains no private information (except the location on your harddisk, where the files are stored), nor do I extract which songs you listen to (expecting over 1 Million songs, this would be too demanding for storage) or know how legal a song is.

You wolud really help me a lot. Every library is welcome. I doesn't matter, if it is well tagged or completly chaotic.

Thak you very much,
Chris

E-mailed you my Library.xml file...hopefully not too late. Good luck on the thesis, by the way.
