I really REALLY LIKE! :)

The Nashvill Nobody Knows: Really well done a kinda Rockline for Americana Music (i.e. Bluegrass, County / Western, Blues at-al)

The Linux User Show: (Same source as above 'The Podcast Network'), Advice for *nix noobs. The first Podcast dealt with Knopix Live CD's I hope it goes more indeapth in the furture though.

Newsweek: Well again this is One of the better Podcasts (if a bit dated),.

All the American Broadcast Corporations' Steams

and Whack my Bush Probably one of the better Comedy / Political Comedy Podcasts. Hay you can't go wrong mocking W. & Tony

Some Podcasts I disliked...

The Linux Show: Basicly Two Jerks who are somewhat lost in there Static world of there bemused mumbleings. (i.e. This is what a Podtcast SHOULD NOT BE!),.

So it's basicly a mixed bag...

Z100 phone taps .. funny !!!

djte
06-29-2005, 11:41 PM
teknikal diffikulties is pretty funny (though it can be a little coarse in its language, just so you're warned).

other than that one, i've got:

what is Z100 phone taps about?

melsmusic
06-30-2005, 09:51 PM
It's a NY radio station. Their accents are just great !!

They phone up people making up stories (their families have thought up) and then make out they are someone else.

They are so funny and sometimes a lot of swearing too .. a must hear. Things like your daughters phones been disconnected because she's been sending around nude photos etc. And then the mother rings the daughter on air .. it's so funny.

You know if you load the podcasts .. the arrow pointing sideways on the title.

If you click that a whole heap of more options come up and you click "get" and you have heaps more to choose from.

iPodkid07

i cant find it i think they took it off

melsmusic
07-01-2005, 09:36 PM
iPodkid07 I just went and checked they are still there.

Go into music store USA location. Then click on "Podcasts are here".

Make sure you are in the Podcasts section and in the Q- above search for "z100" and you will find them.

Subcribe and when they are in your podcasts playlist click on the arrow beside it and it will bring up about 10 at least and then click "get" on those.

Q104 Classic Rock Star Interviews are great too. They have an image on the home page of podcasts.

Also, I am really wanting the free audio download on the White Stripes interview on itunes this week and I can't get it because you need to register and I can't since I'm in OZ. If you could help me in any way I would really appreciate it. Just PM me. Anyone that can help thanks !!

Well I've just started getting into podcasts. This is because there hasn't been diddly squat available (in my opinion) for new music lately and I needed something new to help me get through mowing the lawn.

I've subscribed to the following thus far. I'm still sitting here sampling podcasts to see if I've picked what I really want at this point in time:

-Queer Eye Hip Tips
-Engadget
-iTunes New Music Tuesday
-iLounge.com (you'd be silly not to!)
-Science Friday (astronomy, etc. fascinates me)
-Slate Magazine

That's what I have thus far. I'm perusing this forum to see if there are others I might want to try... I just wish there was more time in a day to listen. I think this will be like trying to keep up with the barrage of magazines I get every week. Ah, it's tough!

Well, I am trying to decide what size of ipod photo I want. Or do I even want the photo version? What are the pros and cons. The price is not a problem, since my parents are buying me one. I just really don't know much about ipods besides the fact that they are able to hold many thousands of songs. Which is excellent! My friend just bought the 30 gb ipod photo. Is that a nice one? Let me know if you are able to help me at all.
Take care.

I was looking through the podcasts section yesterday and thought that it's be a case of simply finding a genre i.e. grunge, pop, metal, sport etc and selecting a podcast that way. The problem is they're not descriptive enough - so it's a case of listen in and see if you like it.
I saw a member had the Triple J podcast, I use to listen to that station in Oz when I lived there, now in UK.
Anyone know of any good grunge/alternative podcasts?

melsmusic
08-01-2005, 07:10 PM
Triple J hacks are great but they were listed under international then Australian but they seem to be missing from there now. Maybe searching for them?? They do have about 3 different podcasts (Dr Karl, Triple J Hacks, J Cast). For more about music go for J Cast. Hacks is more local social issues.

Edit: Yeah searching for "J Cast" in podcasts finds the triple j cast which talks to various bands.

Aint podcasts awesome! I am out in Japan where I am sad to say the radio is awful..and I speak fluent Japanese!! They cut in during songs, talk WAY to much about nothing at all Grrrr!
I got a 3G pod last year and recently discovered Podcasts..I am an addict to:

Daily Source Code
(have no idea what he goes on about the techie #### but I just can't get enough of his stories, podsafe music and dulcet tones haha Podfather rules them all!)

Earthcore
(Scott Sigler is the man! How he remembers what everyone is supposed to sound like I don't know!! Good story, not finished yet!)

Digital Flotsam
(When I want something nice and relaxing PW Fenton is the man, excellent production and well thought out content)

BBC Correspondents
(Reporters from all around the world- very good to keep you informed on the move - gives you more than the news headlines)

Trancelab
(Some kind of uni radio, 2 hours of trance every week..good stuff)

Inside Man
(Spike Lee podcast, not bad, kinda cool to hear the man himself speak so candidly)

Still on the lookout for more, these are my staple diet...hardly listen to music any more lol!

Slate.com's podcast with Andy Bowers and Slate.com's Explainer podcast with June Thomas.

Both great podcasts if you follow the news... although if you're conservative, you probably won't enjoy the former suggestion all that much.

The Explainer podcast is just what you think it is... people submit questions about events in the news and they answer. For example, a recent topic covered was what happens to championship t-shirts that belong to the losing team.

I was looking all over the net to find a show that I like and most of the voices bugged me. Not the guys voices but the woman voices .. geeez It was like chalk on a chalk board to my ears. I went on podcast pickel and found a great rss feed. Its the Mel and Phil show and they talk about sex but in a very funny way. The guy Phil is so funny and Mel she has a voice that does not make me want to run to the hills. I think the name of their site is talkingsexradio.com but I could be wrong. hmmm Let me look, Yes talkingsexradio.com and I did find them on podcast pickel.

I love i lounge and glad to be here. Looking forward to reading all the post because I love podcasting and the FCC can't tell me what I can listen to.

Thanks and if you know of any more great podcasting let me know.

I just ordered my g5 black video iPod, I have had a shuffle a year or so before this, and my husband has a mini (after he broke the other one I got him!).

I have my own podcast, and I like to listen to them and was curious how many of you listen to them. I am wondering how big video podcasts will get maybe..

I also want to get an FM tuner (to play the radio on my ipod) and an armband, but I'm not sure which ones to get yet.

I listen to a couple podcasts, mainly the Lost podcast from ABC, and a fan-made cast for the same show.

Pretty good stuff, if you like the content that's being discussed. I guess that's the main thing.

When I had my iPod mini, I loaded it up with The Onion, z100 Phone Taps, and the Dawn and Drew Show. Eventually I took them all off because I found them a waste of time.

To me, Podcasts are just radio shows that you can download and maybe listen to them about once. I discovered that listening to the radio has the same effect. Maybe I would subscribe to Podcasts if I updated my iPod everyday, but I only update it about once a week.

Well, I recently sold my iPod mini. Now I can store video Podcasts on my 30GB. I'm not going to bother. Although having a show in video on my iPod sounds pretty cool, a Podcast is a Podcast. If your lucky you'll listen to it twice. Right now my iPod is Podcast free and only stored with decrypted movies and a whole lot of music.

Although I dislike Podcasts, I know tons of people have them on their iPod. Maybe I'll reconsider, when I update my iPod next weekend.

Leo Laporte has just added the weekly Munchcast (http://www.twit.tv/mc) about strange foods you would find at country fairs that are not good for you. The co-host Cammy Blackstone is very entertaining and knowledgeable on the subject. Leo and her make a great team just like he does with #### DeBartolo on the Daily Giz Wiz (http://www.twit.tv/DGW). Both are entertaining, good for a good laugh and well worth subscribing to.

Edit: #### - Apparently the forums filters will not let you use the short version of the name Richard that is slang for a male body part and rhymes with pick.

A few new video podcasts from Rev3, the makers of Diggnation, I'm enjoying. Revision3 is the place where TechTV is rebuilding it's self with most of the hosts. Most are available in multiple formats and also available in HD for the Apple TV:

- Systm - kind of a do-it-yourself hardware hacking show
- Tekzilla - product reviews, tech tips and how to's, there's both daily feeds and a 40 min weekly show. It's almost the ScreenSavers from the TechTV days.
- popSirens - Is fairly new and is a pop culture/science/technology show done by the girls of Rev3. I just subscribed to it and enjoying it very much.
- Mahalo Daily - aprox 5 min a day covering a variety of topics, usually, but not always net related.

I think we may see some video content coming from Leo Laporte's TWIT network since his TV show Call For Help was canceled again from Canada's TechTV. I look forward to this since he was pretty much responsible for TechTV's ScreenSavers, Call For Help and worked with most of the hosts in Rev3.

Some new audio podcasts I've been listening to are also tech, net/pop culture related.

- CBC Radio's Spark - a half hour show on modern pop culture and trends ussually related to the internet.
- CBC Radio's Search Engine - also based on modern culture and news as seen by the net.

This one is a good podcast. I've watched most of the movies. The quality isn't that good but you can still watch them even on TV.

-MacCast - deleted

-Today in iPhone Podcast - deleted

I subscribe to :

The 1 Up Yours Show: they have a video and an audio podcast selection and come from an insiders point of view as the editors and staff of a major gamming magazine/reviews company. www.1upyours.com

Three Red Lights: another insiders look at gamming often discussing games not yet released and recently had Don King on their show (thats when I knew I was fan)

Finally,

I am also a host of the following podcast (in the interest of full disclosure)

The Target Demographic: 4 guys fall into the range of 20-30 discussing the latest happenings in the worlds of video games, tv, movies, and music from the perspective of the Target Demographic. Listeners can expect a "full disclosure" approach - looking beyond the projects themselves and into the hype, marketing campaigns, reviewer consensus and more. Join Bryan, Wayne, Matt and Jonathan as they rant, rave, and prognosticate about media and the future of modern entertainment.

Alright shameless plug their, but I would spend as much time doing this as I do if I didn't think it was a worth a try for you new and old podcasters. Thanks for all the previous post I have a lot to check out.

This off topic and would have been better posted as it's own thread.

You pretty much nailed it. Don't be fooled by the term subscribe though, 99% of podcasts are free so the subscription costs you nothing. When you subscribe to a podcast it will add it to the Podcasts section of iTunes were you can manage it. iTunes will check at a predetermined time (usually the last manual update) for new episodes and download them as they come available. You can manually check for updates by clicking the Refresh button in the Podcasts section of iTunes. When you first subscribe only the newest episode will download, you can expand the podcast in the Podcasts view in iTunes to select older episodes. iTunes will automatically delete fully played episodes to help conserve drive space.

I'm still subscribed to TWiT...and The Tech Guy, and the Daily GizWiz and Muchcast. I never saw Leo on TV, but he's on my list of 'people with dulcet toned voices'. I agree they are long podcasts, but I have a lot of time on my hands at work, so I just listen through them all.

I'm a real Leo fan as well. He's very entertaining and knowledgeable. Even on topics he knows little about he seems to ask all the right questions.

I'm sure you know you can watch Leo live at Twit Live (http://live.twit.tv/). You can also find video copies to all his podcasts and a few other shows not released as podcasts at On-Demand Twit (http://odtv.me/). I recommend checking out Maxwell's House (http://odtv.me/category/maxwells-house/), it features Ray Maxwell, it's a very in depth look and deep discussion of science and technology topics. Ray appeared on The Lab With Leo quite a bit, I hope to see this released as a podcast someday.

If you really want to see his TV shows there's the Call For Help (http://cfhtorrents.lwltracker.info/bt/cfhstats.php) tracker and The Lab With Leo (http://lwltorrents.lwltracker.info/bt/lwlstats.php?page=1) tracker. These sites need a bittorrent program to download the video.
