View Full Version : I've made my IPod unstealable...

I bought one of those fire security safes from Wal Mart that are like 40 bucks. I put the IPod in there with the headphones coming out the crack. Then I thought "oh #### they'll know" so i took off the headphones and put speakers coming out. Not just any speakers. The huge 80's speakers. I had to install wheels on them and here is the genius I USED SQUARE WHEELS. I welded the safe to the speakers. So if anyone tries a grab an run they won't be goin fast cus ... THE WHEELS ARE SQUARE.

Now I may not look all that cool and it may slow me down alot but I think it is all worth it to protect something that costs .... FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS.

Cooooooooool

If there's not a point to this thread, make sure you let me know so I can close it. Thanks.

Though, if you have some geniune discussion or if this was just a cynical post, let me know as well.

Thanks.

It wasn't cynical and there was a point. It was a joke. It's a satirical comment on the great lengths some people around here go to protect their IPod. Is humor not allowed around here? Does our choice of mp3 players make us so serious and self important we can't laugh? If it's not don't bother closing this thread. Just ban me.

...yeah, but now WE know...and if we see you toting your sweet music machine around...we know exactly what's inside and when you're just slightly distracted...soon WE'LL be rocking out on your square-wheeled ipod contraption.

We'll have the most original-looking ipod around! Mwahahahaha!

Jeez Snowy, that was a little harsh. I though it was pretty funny, and would have to agree with graves' view on iPod protection. It does seem as though certain people go to rather extreme measures to protect their Pods.

So glad everyone here isn't lame.

He posted that thing about iPod protection afterwards!

To me it sounded like some crazy guy rambling on about nothing. He had nothing cited and just had a weird sentence.

But true, some people go to huge lengths!

As an anti-theft protection a few months back, some guy put duct tape on his earphones to make him look like it was a 15yo walkman or something!

You people seriously believed that? wow.

Actually that just further illustrates my point.

Bah you only spent $40 on your lock box? Pfft! I spent a whole $1.50 more and got the felt lining! Heaven forbid that my precious slam into metal sides as it rolls away on its square wheels!

Lame! It's a $300 device that fits in your pocket, of course you have to be careful with it...

Because of your post punk_r0x, I have heightened my security to Red, the top most level. I have modded it to have triangular wheels and an extra 400 pound weight on top of the lockbox. Let's see those fools try and steal it now!

I just grafted mine to my arm. Charging is a ##### though.

I don't know, what if you yourself are a security threat to your ipod? Better hide it somewhere where you don't even know where it is. With triangular wheels in case you find it.

:P

My iPod is a security threat to me actually. You can only imagine what I go through in Airport Security....

Quick, someone tell George Bush his iPod is a national security risk! I want to see him chuck it out the window and order the secret service to run it over (http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/nano.ars/3) while he ducks & covers.

Here in the States, it has to be scanned...twice...then they have to see it turn on. In France, they make me go through every menu and push every button. In India they checked it before checking in, before arriving at the gate and before boarding the plane. All three times all buttons had to be pushed and one of them even tried to get me to take it apart!! You'd be surprised at how much of a threat an iPod is...

That airport security thing is nuts, just making sure you don't have a rectangular switchblade or anything crazy like that!

Best security-EVER is a silicone case. My reasoning is, put it on shuffle, hold, and put it in your pocket. If you can't get it out, neither can anyone else.

My iPod has a cement case and barbed wire fencing, oh, and I have guard dogs to follow me around and constantly guard my iPod when I bring it out and stuff to hold in my hand.

ha! mine is much more unstealable than yours. I don't even carry it with me anywhere. It stays at home in a safe, locked in my office, and then my house is locked. And I've got a moat around the house with alligators and everything.....

I installed an ADT system on mine, and rigged it with laser trip wires. I might have to steal the idea of the cement case but I'm not a fan of dogs!
