ok so I'm going to get an ipod mini today, but now I'm channging my mind because my friend said that you can only upload music on your i-pod from the i-tunes site. ANd that will be toooo expensive. I already have many mp3's on my computer can I upload those on a i-pod?

Yes, of course whoever told you that doesn't know waht you are talking about. You can rip cd's put them on your computer and add them to your ipod. Using the itunes music store is NOT mandatory lol. Good luck with that

Yes, the mp3s are easy to put into iTunes so long as they aren't protected.

Then it asks you to select a folder and you're good.

MP3s don't have protection. That's part of the beauty of them, and why I ONLY use the MP3 format - it plays on just about everything.

I'm guessing he's referring to WMA, which definitely is not mp3!

It is true that you'll be limited in the number of sites you can BUY music from, since WMA is not supported.

iTunes and eMusic are about it. No MSN, Yahoo!, etc.

But you can rip your own CDs to your heart's content, and any mp3 files you already have will work just fine. Enjoy!
