I have the 9847 head unit installed along with the KCA-420I interface connecting to my 3G 40Gb iPOD. As I am driving the 9847 will interrupt the song and display "No iPOD" then "searching". Eventually the unit (I'm assuming the 420I) will reconnect and pick the song up exactly where it left off. It retains the playlist setting but the MIX setting are reset to no MIX. This may happen once an hour or every 10 minutes.

I have looked at the iPOD display when this happens and the screen allowing you to select playlist, artist, album, etc is displayed and the backlight is on. When the reconnection occurs the "Alpine" logo is back on the screen.

I've check to make sure the 420I connection to the iPOD is secure and it is so I don't think that some vibration is causing this condition.

I am wondering 2 things:1) Has anyone else experienced this condition and 2) is this condition caused by the iPOD or the Alpine gear?

Hi,
I am having the same issues with my 9853 HU. It is doing the same exact thing yours is doing. Did you ever find a solution? Cause it is getting kind of annoying.

I've got a 4G iPod connected to the KCA-420i... Works for a period of time (sometimes many hours).

Then stops playing - The head unit displays 'searching' and the iPod itself still displays "Apline..." on the LCD - However, the iPod is locked and does not respond to ANY inputs.

The only way I've found to recover is to allow the iPod to run down the battery and then once charged (using wall charger) - its back to normal....

This really stinks on a long road trip!

Have you tried performing a Restore on your iPod? Maybe something in the iPod software is messed up.

As for the people having connection problems, is the cable going into the iPod situated such that there no strain on it? Have you checked all of the AiNet and iPod connections to make sure one of them isn't loose?
