I'm not sure which forum this belongs in but I have a 4G 20GB ipod that I would like to use in the car and also at work where we have portable stereos in all the rooms I work in. Looks like the concensus is that a line level audio output connected to a stereo is much better than a connection via a headphone jack cable.

Although the Roadtrip!+ sounds great for the car, it doesn't sound so good for at work. I was thinking of maybe an Airplay or iTrip. However, don't all the FM transmitters (or even cassette adapters) use the sound output from the headphone jack?

Any suggestions on the most cost effective but decent sounding solution for both the car and work? I would like to spend less than $50 if possible.

look into the pocketdock. it plugs into the dock connector and gives you a lineout and either USB or Firewire.

Thanks. The pocketdock sounds somewhat similar to the SiK Imp (currently sold out) that I had read about. If I were to get the pocketdock, how would I listen to the Ipod in the car. I would still need a FM transmitter or cassette adapter plus some kind of charger right?

I really like what I've read about the Roadtrip!+ for the car but I still would need to find a way to connect it to the stereo at work. I was in my condo gym last night and saw that the cheap boom box didn't have an line in type inputs.
