ipod into XM

I bought an belkien audio cable to plug into my xm receiver and my ipod headphone jack... my xm radio has a built in fm transmiter/modulator and i can't figure out how to just have my ipod play over my speakers... i can hear my ipod music AND my xm station.. how can i solve this???
