Ipod Mini Error/Sad Face

Im trying to help my coworker figure out what is wrong with her Ipod Mini. Any time you turn it on it shows a sad face with an ! mark next to it.

I have done the reset for it and it still is showing up. Anyone know what it means?

Sorry but it means this:

This also relates to the diagnostic software noted above. The icon means that the disk scan was not able to recover the hard disk data. When this happens, the iPod requires repairs, which you can arrange at the iPod Service Website.
