Script to remove artistname from trackname tag?

I have many MP3 tracks whose trackname tags read:
[trackname] - [artist]

The artist tag has the artist already, so I would like to delete the
[space][dash][space][artist] from the trackname tag.

I think this could probably be done with a regular expression. I have already had success changing file name of the mp3 with Renamer4Mac using a regular expression. But then on adding to itunes library, the filename is conformed to trackname, undoing the change. So I learned the trackname tag must be changed, not the filename.

Anyone know of a script to do this, or interested in creating one?

I'm a newbie to both regular expressions and applescripts, by the way. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

hi go to doug's scripts: you'll find all sorts of scripts to help you. in your case, I suggest to download the "track parser" if the tracknames look like [trackname] - [artist] or any other interesting information when added in itunes. this script is interesting because you can create your own patterns. if the tags are not defined in itunes despite the correct filenames, then you should use the "filename to trackname" script before the parser. but in that second workflow, you will have to first uncheck "keep itunes music folder organized" in the advanced preferences before adding the songs in itunes.
