The entire install was a breeze and took maybe 15 minutes. Everything just plugs right in and no cutting or anything special is required. The end result is fantastic CD quality sound (Depends on the quality of the original music files of course) that can be controlled completely from the headunit. I still keep the iPod out so I can see what songs are playing and for faster navigation on file browsing. Another thing I love besides how good it sounds, is how good it looks. It's now only a thin cord that plugs into the bottom of the iPod. No extra charger to hit your hand on when shifting gears, nothing clamped onto the top of the iPod, and nothing bulky in site at all. Hell, the wire that they provide that leads to the iPod itself is over 6 feet long which gives anyone looking to do custom mounting a lot of choices. Many will choose to run the wiring to the glove box a la BMW. At first, I just kept mine in my cup holder until I got the time to make an aluminum holder for it that would mount to the console.
![]() Two days after installing the NEO ipod connector from www.mp3yourcar.com, I decided to make that custom mounting bracket out of a sheet of aluminum and cover it in the same suede that I covered the rest of the interior in. Luckily, I saved the extra suede just for projects like this. The iPod fits like a glove and holder just comes right out if need be, but is in there so damn tight that it's not going anywhere. I wanted to make my own holder because I wanted a very slim and clean look that bulky universal holders cant offer. Plus the match to the interior is right on the money.

Excellent job! Can you give a few more details about your fabrication job on the mount? What type of alumium, thickness, how you cut the pattern, attachment method, etc.? I'm thinking of doing something similar for the same reasons and really like the job you did.

I don't really have too much info on the install. I just grabbed a scrap piece that was about 1 mm thick or so and laid out my ipod to get an idea on size. I then cut it out with tin snips and used a grinder to smooth it down. Then using a mallet and anvil, I shaped it to wrap around the bottom and top of the ipod. Lastly, I covered it in suede and stuffed it in the slot on my dash.

Excellent. I really recommend it to everyone. It was such a simple install, incredible sound and so clean that it is like it's a stock Toyota option.
