The camera connector works with my Pentax *ist D digital SLR.
I thought this was worth posting because Apple do not list any Pentax cameras at all on their compatibility web site link. |

Hi folks,
would really appreciate some help here. I have a Canon EOS 10D DSLR and a new 60Gb iPod Photo. I just received through courier the Camera Connector. the lounge review and others said that it was possible to transfer photos from the 10D to the iPod. I followed the instructions: switch on ipod insert camera connector switch on camera connect camera to camera connector via usb cable click on photo import (once I had turned on photo import) but then the ipod just sits there doing nothing. same with the olympus camedia C-60 zoom. nothing. Please help - I'm going on holiday tomorrow for a holiday of a lifetime (Bali) and would really like to get this to work! thank you in advance |

I have to switch my Canon A70 to playback mode for my iPod photo to recognise it via the camera connector. Once I do this, the iPod lists how many photos are on the camera and asks what I want to do. If I connect the camera in photo mode the iPod doesn't detect it.

thanks Phil
actually - I feel a bit of a fool now - I've updated the firmware on the iPod to v1.1 and it all works - both cameras! so a fool, but a happy fool!

Phil -
Since the Camera Connector is compatible with your Canon A70, I'm assuming it's also compatible with my Canon A80. A few days ago I ordered a Camera Connector from Amazon.com (basically getting one for free if you apply for their credit card -- an instant $30 rebate, sort of). Only after that that I've heard so many incompatibility issues... I also heard a rumor somewhere that you lose the original resolution when uploading photos from your camera to the ipod photo. Do you or anyone one this forum know whether this rumor is true or not. I think the person who had spreaded the rumor was confused with the process of uploading photos from the computer to ipod photo where "optimizing" process occurs. Did you detect any photo quality downgrading when uploaded from your camera memory card to your ipod photo via camera connector? Thanks in advance. |

Since the A60, A70, A75 and A85 are all listed as officially supported on the Apple website I think it is pretty safe to assume that the A80 is also supported.
The image files downloaded to the DCIM folder on my iPod are the same size as the image files on my memory card. The camera connector does produce a thumbnail, full screen and TV image when the photo is imported as well as maintaining the original file. Maybe that was the source of your rumour.

You have the option of keeping a full resolution file when tranferring from computer besides the optimizing.
Not sure about directly from the camera though. |

Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. Woo Hoo! So I got the Canon 1DmkII to transfer images to my 60gb iPod Photo via the camera connector. After all the things I read about the belkin card reader, I wasn't feeling too good about my options....especially since my camera is not listed as a "Supported Camera" for the camer connector.
I did have to go through some pain when upgrading the firware but everything works well now. Here are my stats: -Canon 1D mkII (8 mp) -Full 1gb Lexar compact flash card (321 images) -Time to transfer - 58 minutes -Battery life on camera - still reads 100% -Battery life on ipod - 10%.... once I disconnected, the battery indicator jumped up to about 40% and soon after dropped to about 25% where it seemed to stablize. I am going to Europe for three weeks and I now have a solution to back my images up

First I want to say hi to every one . . . .first time poster and first time ipod owner. So far I love my ipod 30gb photo. Installation on to my Win XP machine was a breeze, and I've yet to encounter any problems using usb 2 for synching after about 3 weeks of ownership. I've even gotten over the "but it's an apple product......I feel like such a trader" syndrome. But after looking at other products, the ipod photo had the features that I wanted....the ability to listen to mp3s and transfer photos from my camera to the device for storage......at a price I liked. And much cheaper than getting the extra memory cards I would need for an upcoming 2 week trip to Alaska.
I just wanted to let everyone else know that I've had luck using apple's camera connector with a camera that is not list on the "offical" list of supported devices in case any one else has this model and was wondering if it would work or not. The camera is Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20. Plugged in the camera connector, plugged in the camera, worked like a charm. *Happy Dance*. Okay. Must go rip more of my cds now..... |

Anyone got a Nikon D70 that has been able to get it to work? I got my photo adapter from the Mac store on Monday and have not been successful. Is there a setting in iTunes, iPod or my camera that I need to change.

Thought I'd put up a quick post about this camera. I gave this camera to my wife last year but it doesn't seem to work with the camera connector, although it does support mass storage. The camera just blinks on/off as if it's trying to connect. Just a heads up if you're considering these two products together. (I checked the config and specs repeatedly, so unless there's hack)
