If you need quick turnaround in a semi-pro environment, and don't want to carry your laptop around, then you really need more cards, or a HDD vault-type device which is designed to do this sort of thing.
the iPod camera connector is really a value-add type device. You probably wouldn't buy an iPod just for the camera adapter, but it might sway you on an iPod photo instead of a mono, or an iPod instead of a Creative. For me, its ideal and I don't have to worry about taking lots of photos because I know I can always transfer some off if I'm caught short. Does the connector give you a firewire connector so you can charge the iPod? |

So how do you guys download your pics directly from the camera to the ipod without interface software to do it for you?
I thought that this was a no, no for the photo ipod as you could not download pics directly from a digital camera onto the ipod without going through a computer? what is the procedure And how much does this little camera connector cost then? thanks

This is talking about the apple camera connector. Little bit of plastic that gives you a USB port on the bottom of your ipod. This you connect with a cable to your camera.
The latest software on your iPod photo can then suck out the contents of your camera's DCIM folder onto the ipod HDD. There is basic stuff there so you can view the photos to make sure they got copied OK. The idea is that then you can delete the photos on your camera to make more space. When you get back to your computer, you copy the photos across from your ipod to your PC using disk mode (ipod appears as a drive and you copy the DCIM folder off) |

I just bought a connector from ebay. Paid $36 shipped; $6 more than real price but they have it in stock and I have money stuck in paypal anyway...
I bought a 40GB iPPhoto exclusively to use in combination with this connector to download pictures from my D70 (I don't listen to music while I walk or work) But! I discovered the world of AUDIOBOOKS!! I'm "reading" all those someday books I had in mind . And why not ALL my music with me (to listen in the car). Even if this connector doesn't make the iPod the fastest thing out there to store photos it still pays off with the other marvelous features |

Does the iPod Camera Connector transfer the pictures from your Camera to your iPod or just transfer them to view them?
Also what is the difference between this and the Belkin Media Reader or whatever it is thats almost the same? Thanks!

It performs basically the same function as the Belkin except: - its a *lot* cheaper - it doesn't need batteries - its a lot smaller - you can view the photos after transfer to check they arrived OK. but it only works on ipod photos. I think the belkin works on mono ipods too? |

Does anyone know where there is a list of digital camera's that are compatible with the apple camera connector, beyond those listed by apple?
Or more specifically does anyone know whether the canon powershot sd200 / ixus 30 is compatible? Many thanks in advance! |

With the Nikon D70 the transfer works well, though you must take in to account the amount of battery power that is taken from the camera.
I have been getting between 1500-2000 pics per charge and the transfer is eating into that. I am still looking for a case that takes this huge connector. |

I have a Kodak CX6330 and it works great with the camera connector. One helpful tip I'd like to pass on is this:
The connector won't import photos from a media card if there is more than one folder on it. For example: I had several PDF files on my SD card along with my photos...couldn't figure out why it wasn't recognized or working correctly...deleted all the other folders....and it works great.... Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. When the camera connector came out , I thought good ...now i can straight away view my pics from my camera and avoid the trouble of bring and buying more SD storage cards.
i own a ipod photo 30G as well as a panasonic Fx-7 5Mega digicam. but however when i look under "supported cameras" , i am disapointed to find that they does not support panasonic camera. The catalog does says that from the camera it is able to transfer PTP and mass storage format. Have anyone have the same problem as me? Have any one tried connecting the connector with a digi camera ,that is not listed as a supported camera, and it works? Else i wil have to buy the belkin media card reader as an option. |
