Sounds silly, I'm sure you're all gonna hate this...but the Zune premium earbuds are only $40 and not only are they noise cancelling and sound great, but the earbuds have magnets on the backs so when they're not being used, they stick together so there are never any tangle problems. Plus it comes with 4 different earpieces to fit your specific ear. And a carrying case. OK...don't shoot. Just sayin.

I've just invested in some Skullcandy Smokin' buds...I find them to be awesome. Maybe I'm deaf? Many have said they're average. I think they really do a great job.

cleaning ears with hydrogen peroxide

I am NOT a doctor and am not giving out medical advice.

However, I read years ago that it was okay to use regular low-solution hydrogen peroxide - the kind they sell in drugstores for common usage - and my wife and I have used it many times. We use just a few drops in each ear and we've never had a problem.

This is one of many sites I found on the net about hydrogen peroxide for use in the ears:
http://www.healingdaily.com/exercise...de-in-ears.htm

By the way, I have about 5 sets of headphones around the house and tried them all with my IPod. None of them sound as good as the ones that came with the IPod. Granted, all are relatively cheap ones. Problem with the IPod earphones is that they don't fit my ears well and if I do push them in hard enough to get seal, they hurt my ears.

Someone on an early page of this thread said something about some gel things that fit over these IPod earphones so they fit better but the link they provided to buy them didn't work. Anyone know about this product?

Also am looking for the link someone mentioned about making your own ear buds using noise suppression ear buds. Seems like this might be the best solution for ear bud type phones if it is do-able. I have a pair of decent ear bud type earphones but they don't fit my ears so if I could make my own buds for them, that might solve my earphone problems.

Creating your own ear buds that work better than the stock ones

This is a good method for creating the ear buds from noise suppression foam earplugs.
I made some using a slightly less efficient method than given in this link below. But this looks like a better method that I used and I plan to try it tomorrow. Will report back.

http://www.headwize.com/projects/cmoy4_prj.htm

By the way, someone mentioned that the Radio Shack buds that fit over the IPod earphones were "around $7". Maybe they were on sale when he bought them. Today I saw them for $19.95.

So I came home and checked on amazon and found them for $8 including shipping. However, I read the reviews and many of the reviews say that these earbuds that slip over the standard IPod earphones completely wipe out the highs while super-boosting the bass. So I decided not to buy them.

I have a pair of Sony earbuds on order, anyway, and am just messing around until they arrive from China.

Great Advise

I found this out by accident.... I was cutting my grass with a very loud lawn mower and needed something to cover my ears as listen to podcasts at the same time.... when I inserted my Shure ear buds further in my ear canel to quiet the lawnmower noise, much to my surprise I noticed the base response went way up.... I can attest to the fact that the above mentioned advise from Bob in the first msg is spot on! Thanks Bob!
