These series of headphones are JUNK, I don't understand what all the holia about them is. Seriously, they are the stock apple buds with ear plugs, or thats at least what they sound like.

I bought the 51EXLPs and they sounded great if I didn't know there were better alternatives out there for the same price or less, (cough:: KOSS KSC-75s, Sennheiser MX-75::cough) I probably would have stuck with them. Fortunately they wouldn't stay in my ears and I found better alternatives.

Considering how old this thread is (but still stickied), I thought I might chime in
I have the 71's in white (more like grey/ black now) first the insulation began to tear and separate. I tried using electrical tape and it made the cord all sticky, black, and gross. It got to the point where I decided screw it, I'm getting new headphones. I bought a Sennheiser pmx 70 sport (behind the head) which sounds great (and better for biking, though there is wind noise), but I can't rest my head or go to sleep with them.

The other day I decided to pop the 71's back in, they still sounded great, but looked horrible: wire exposed in many places..etc. And then an idea popped into my head, what if i spliced the sony 71 buds onto my spare pair of apple buds (the 1st gen) since the cord is much more robust.

So far, I've soldered the right bud of the 71 onto the apple cord and it sounds fine (too bad I couldn't find white heatshrink, I had to use black)

so If I manage to solder both buds on, i'll have a nice pair of sopple headphones with the apple look and without the awkward neck chain

if you didn't get sopple it's sony + apple

uck! I am really happy with these earbuds in general, but the stupid rubber tips keep falling off! I have to crawl around on the ground every time they fall off, and I have lost a few still. Now all I have left is one med sized and one small sized (and I'm somewhere between the two - medium is a tad too big), and I lost the small one today. I also tried gorilla gluing them onto the bud, but it still fell off!

Does anybody know how to keep them on (and they usually fall off when something rips the headphone out of my ear, so case really isn't an issue).

Those are definetly fakes

I have some bad news guys,my 51's died on me about a week ago...well the right one anyways. It just stopped working one day,i almost cried..lol.I tried cleaning it and it still wouldnt work.I bought it at circuit city, ill see if i can get another pair or something

oh yes, meanwhile while on vacation here in hong kong i bought another pair. The MDR EX32LP,the specs are the same as the 51's but i cant find anything about it's magnet type. For being only around $25 USD,it's not bad but im not sure if im just imagening things but i think the 51's bass response is deeper?

I like to sleep with my iPod playing. Will using these headphones while sleeping deteriorate the cord?

I own the EX32LP headphones, which is a model not yet released in the US.

I can sleep wearing the earphones just fine (the cord has not deteriorated for me at all.
