I am in the market for a new speaker dock compatible with an iPod Touch
3rd generation. Sound is important to me, especially rich bass, and I'm looking for something that sounds equally good at low and high volumes. (It will be used outside, so it needs to have some oomph.) I've been looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT. But I've read that it doesn't have a rechargeable battery, and this is a deal breaker. I had a Phillips Fidelio, whose sound I found mediocre at best. Plus, it was not very stable and broke when I accidentally knocked it off my dresser. My ideal requirements are: good, full sound, rechargeable battery with decent life, iPod charging capability, compact size and some kind of protective case for safe travel. Remote doesn't matter. Does anyone have any recommendations for me? I'd like to keep it around $100, which seems reasonable considering the significant drop in prices on these items in recent years. I'm willing to pay more if necessary, but not over $200. Can anyone help? Thank you. |

I used to drive a ferry boat in NY harbor-I had the altec Lansing foldup model which was great at first but the power cord died then the speakers after-I had been using the Klipsch iGroove Sxt at home and boy was it AWESOME for $149(apple store) so I began bringing my Klipsch speaker to work w me. It's loud, the quality is there and I had it for just under a year when the power transformer block died-I called Klipsch-not having anything but a serial number and they sent me out a new power block. Still works to this day and also has great great sound although the dock gets loose and occasionally I've got to fiddle with the position of the iPhone... Highly recommend it my man-perfect to put outside by the pool as long as it comes in with you at night.

Thank you. Good to know that Klispch also has great customer service. I do have a couple other questions: Does it have an internal, rechargeable battery, or do you always have to use AC power? Does the iPod fit securely on the dock? I've had trouble before with the iPod easily getting jostled, which makes me nervous.
