Has anyone come across a nice wall mount for a 46" Flat Panel that would also have a small shelf or some way to mount the Apple TV (2) along with it?
I don't want to mount it behind the TV since the IR Remote won't function and I don't want just to flat mount it to the wall, again, cause the IR remote won't have line of site. I don't mind using the iPhone/iPad remote app, but the wife hates it and refuses to use it, wants the five button silver remote. Don't ask, I just work here. Any solutions anyone has found yet? |

I don't know of any wall mounts for a TV that also have a shelf. Do you not have anything else that will be hooked up? If it's just the Apple TV then maybe loil at a small wooden shelf from Home Depot. You could even paint it black to give a matching look.

Nope, nothing else. I have ripped our 1,500+ DVD's into iTunes and my Drobo. The wife and I stream everything and love it since they got Netflix & MLB.TV on the Apple TV.
We have been Cable/Satellite free for about two years now and haven't looked back. Gone are the days of flipping through the channels trying to find something of quality to watch. Now if the Apple.TV would only get Hulu+, we would be set. We watch shows on the iPad sometimes. Or at least, get AirPlay in Hulu+, that would work too.

A small wooden shelf would be the least expensive solution. You could paint it any color that you want so it can blend into your wall. HDTV LCD/plasma wall mounts general don't have shelves as they attach he selves directly to the backs of the TVs. They hide themselves behind the TVs, that is the whole point of a VESA wall mount.
Another option would be to purchase the clip mount for the PS3 eye and modify it for the Apple TV. It would clip directly to the top of your HDTV. That is about it and you will really only have three options: mount it on the outside of the wall with some type of shelf, cut a hole in the wall and slide it back in there, or directly attach it to the TV.

You need an IR extender. Logitech makes a decent one for $60.00 that has a small receiver that could be mounted above or below a flat-screen tv. Then you'd mount the AppleTV behind the tv with the blaster 'stuck' to the AppleTV's IR receiver. (hope that makes sense...)

I am looking for an articulating arm type mount with a small shelf with little luck as well. In my search I came across Wall Mount Solution's A/V Shelves. They look like they are wall mounted separately and not directly connected to the TV mount, but have the ability to hide the wires. Not the perfect solution for me, but may be a good alternative.
I may look at the LCD8216BLK - Single AV Glass Shelf for the ATV in my bedroom. If I like it I may get a multiple shelf unit for the livingroom TV which is not mounted yet. Edit: Just looking through Small TV Stands which has a few solutions as well.

The H-Squared wall-mount for ATV2 is a bit pricey ($30) for what you get, but if you want a clean look and don't have the tools/skills to make your own mount this might work. It will mount the ATV with the IR port facing any which way except for pointing at you, so I don't know how well the stock ATV remote will work (mine seems to require direct aim to work reliably). But if you have an i-device with Remote, then you don't need the IR port at all. iLounge did a "First Look" on this not long ago:

I forgot about that one, it should even be fairly easy to make a bracket to hang it under the TV on a swing arm type mount using the screws for the VESA mount or other hardware on the swing arm.

eh... i'd rather but the cables in the wall and hide the appletv somewhere... and use the logitec "HarmonyONE" or some other non IR remote...
i like the idea it just does not look very clean to me to have this little black dingle berry hanging off the tv... |

If you are a movie freak or just appreciate watching movies online then you would certainly be interested in a facility that enables you watch movies as much as you can. Today that is easily achievable even in your own room with your own computer and even on your big screen without having to spend too much money by going to the cinema or renting the DVDs. With this facility you can actually watch new movies online as shortly after they are released by watching it streaming or download them. Not limited to Hollywood movies but as well as movies from other countries.

Yes, you could do that but the AppleTV 2's front really needs to be sticking directly out so that it can be controlled using the IR remote (which requires a direct line of sight). There are options that will make a 90 degree bend that will work with your setup but I have not come across any solid reviews of actual IR extenders.
Also, at least for the Xbox 360, the last thing I would ever do is have it sit behind the TV like that. It is more enclosed than sitting on a shelf and its ventilation system is being fed the hot air from the back of the TV. If anything, I would mount the Xbox 360 more like the second picture but even further away so that the back vents (which both take in and blow out air) aren't being fed from the hot air behind the TV (which can get rather warm). I still think a PS3 Eye mount would be one of the easiest and best options. It can work with an AppleTV 2 rather easily and is a non-permanent, minimal solution that costs $20. Just mount it to the top of the TV (it doesn't even have to be directly in the middle) or even the side and call it a day. You don't have to worry about making custom shelves, you don't have to worry about hiding the wires (since they can be zip tied in the back of the TV rather easily), and you don't really have to worry about cost. Most HDTVs these days already have some things hanging off their tops, bottoms, and/or sides. What is one more object? Hell, my HDTV has three things hanging off of it: my Kinect for my Xbox 360, PS3 Eye, and virtual 5.1 soundbar. I would have no problems attaching an AppleTV 2 to it that way (though my HDTV sits on a shelf system so it doesn't really matter).
