You are going to get a lot of mixed responses regarding Bose. One common thing you will hear is that Bose stands for Better Off with Something Else. While I agree that there are better headphones for the price, the Bose In-Ear headphones are by far the most comfortable I have ever used. I can literally keep them in for hours without any ear fatigue. My recommendation is to go to a place that you can try headphones or make sure you have a trial period so you can return them if you don't like them.

Thats a great idea!
My best friend bought some bose headphones, the sound is stunning and you really get what you pay for.
Having the headphones for a certain time to try them is a great idea,
Thanks!

ANY question of worth is subjective. No one can tell you if it's worth it to you or not. If you like them then get them.

Bose is much hated everywhere on the internet, never ask about Bose on the net because all you will get is hatred.

Personally I have the Bose OEs and the Bose IE's. They are very good frankly. Very bass-heavy if you go for that thing, with a very warm and airy sound signature. The Bose Triport IEs are, as mentioned above, by far the most comfortable IE i have ever used -- though I will also admit they aren't exactly like normal IEs. They don't isolate at all and they don't even really go into your ear canal.

However I will say that the Triport IE's are by far the best headsets to use for jogging. They don't isolate, so that means you will hear danger like rushing cars and not get flattened, and in addition are very, very comfortable. YMMV though as many people complain that their ears can't hold the Triport IE's in place. I never had this problem though sometimes I wonder at consumer stupidity; a lot of people cannot figure out how to wear IE's properly and it would not surprise me if this contributed to a lot of the negative talk regarding Bose and the IE's falling out every five seconds.

Personally though I would say that Bose headsets, while excellent, tend to be more expensive than what I'd like. I never really felt like I got my money's worth out of a Bose product. For instance, when I got the Triport IE's I also picked up the Vmoda Vibes, at around the same price (albeit a bit cheaper), which IMO at the time were better overall (I've sort of changed my opinion on that but that is another story). When I got Triport OE's I also picked up the AKG K181 DJs which were half the price but which were comparable and in some ways better (but in some ways worse as well).

So in short Bose headsets tend to be more expensive than what they're worth, but personally I think the sound and product you get is quite unique and not something you can get in another product. They have unique characteristics that I have not found in other rival headsets. The OEs for instance are simply the most comfortable supraaural headset I have ever used, period, and pack incredible bass on top of it. The IEs also have some excellent bass and are as mentioned the most comfortable IEs I've ever had. So I wouldn't say I wasted my money on them.

When I first got my IE's I had this same problem and I was almost ready to return them. However, I ended up deciding to try different tips to see if that made a difference. With any other canal phones I had tried, I always ended up using the smallest tips - for the Bose IE's, I needed the largest tips. Now I have no problems with them ever falling out. I had just assumed I needed the small ones and they would fall out just from walking around.

Yeah the thing with the IEs is that, instead of the tips going into the canal, they actually go into the mold of your ear only have a small insert point that point into the canal. So yeah definitely would be different. I usually use the smallest tips for IEs as well but for the Bose I had to use the Medium for the best fit.

Podgeek, what type of music are you listening to and what kind of sound signature are you after? The headset you should get depends almost entirely on what sort of sound you are looking for. Most people for instance swear behind Shure but I would personally never buy another Shure product because the sound is just so thin and cold, not the kind of sound I am looking for.

Hey Mochan,
I like to hear rock music and metal, sometimes a little bass or industrial. These genres rock! I need to know what i need to choose the ones that suits me.

If you are into rock and metal and industrial I would not recommend the Bose Triports. Their sound signature doesn't reproduce distorted guitars that well. The thing with rock and metal is they need clear reproduction of the distorted effects. The OEs were not as bad as the Senn HD212 Pro I have which plain sucked for metal, but is far from the best. The warm, earthy tone doesn't bring out the best sound.

On the other hand try he Ultimate Ears. Their clarity is good for rock and metal. I have the Metro Fi 170 and they are great for the genre. These are in ear monitors though.

If you want to get full cans AKG and Audio Technica are also good for your genres.

I have the Around Ear headphones. They are super light (BIG PROBLEM) and very comfortable.

These headphones are 3 years old and I am sticking with them because they are handy and offer good sound for their size.

They are too flimsy for words. The first thing that went was the little tiny holder that swivels the pads

I glued first one side then a few weeks later the next one went. I used epoxy with a metal filler and this became very strong and has survived. I am on my 3rd set of pads, which wear out very quickly. They are very comfortable, but so soft that they wear quickly.

Then the head piece started to break. Both sides have broken in at least two different places. More epoxy glue to the rescue, but there is little to grip - the tiny head piece is hollow and the plastic is very thin. It does not offer any strength at all. Since I use these every day, the head piece has had to flex many times, but could not stand the continuous wear.

If you plan to use these headphones, they are only light duty.

If you are deciding between the three different Triport models, here's what I have to say:

1. At home you should disqualify the IE's. The IEs are meant for portable on-the-go listening anyway and in terms of sound quality they are clearly inferior to the other two.

2. The OE and AE models have different sounds. The OE is more bass-heavy while the AE has a better mid range. The AE also sounds "airier" while the the OE has a more "earthy" sound. For metal, acoustic, rock, classical and industrial I woudl recommend the AE. For jazz, lounge, dance, R&B, modern Pop and latin I would recommend the OE.

LOL you are truly a headphone freak, my friend.

I can relate though, I do the same thing. I just bought the Turbines last week and I am already planning my next purchase.
