Is there a list of iPhone 3G compatible head units?
Apple themselves was useless in this regard. You'd figure that since everyone has to register a product for the 'works with iphone' logo, that they'd have a list, but noooooooo... |

I had a pioneer headunit installed. Pioneer uses a USB connection so you just plug in your white iphone cord that you use to plug into your computer. It's great. Charges, controls iphone, bluetooth works, etc.

The other issue is, sometimes the unit is compatible and the manufacturer doesn't even know it. Case in point:
I bought the JVC KW-NX7000 DVD Navigation unit c/w Satellite Radio and Bluetooth Modules. My iPhone 3G worked perfectly with the BT for phone calls. In fact, this combo is the best performance I have had from ANY phone and ANY BT speaker device ever...and I have used a lot of them. I leave BT on 24/7 on my iPhone and as soon as I start my truck, boom, it's connected. I have never lost the signal or pairing, the radio/music mutes on an incoming call and resumes instantly when the call is finished. Voices are loud and clear coming from the truck speakers and I have an external mic mounted on the driver's side of the overhead console. Then one day I tried to pair my Windows Mobile phone (HTC Fuze) and everything went wacky. Eventually I got it in for service and found that the BT module had just died so they replaced it under warranty. However, when it first happened and I called JVC support, and they told me the reason there was a problem is because this unit is not compatible with the iPhone 3G! Funny how I had been using it for about a year before this happened. Anyway, all is good now and I am currently using it with a 3GS and also streaming my music over BT. Oh, and more to the OP's original question, I also have my iPod 30 GB 5.5G sitting in the glove box and directly connected to the head unit via the built-in USB connection.
