Philips scm7880 Universal USB charger/battery

Hello everyone,

I'm surprised not to see any post on the scm7880 USB charger from Philips. See info here.
It's a USB wall charger and an independant battery for phones and mp3 players.

I'm not sure about compatibility with iPhones. They mention in the manual: make sure the device does not consume more current (mA) than 450 mA

Oops! how much is the iPhone 3gs?

Spec. of the Philips SM7880 are:
Power Input Voltage 100-240 V
Power output Voltage 5.6 V
Power Batteries included Yes
Battery capacity 1000 mAh
Battery type Li-Polymer

The following spare connector tips are included in the packge. It is interesting how shy is Philips about naming the iPods (or iphone?).

#1. Nintendo ; partnumber: CONNECTOR-TIPS-NINTENDO
#2. Special USB Interface for AppleŽ products ; partnumber: USB-INTERFACE-APPLE
#3. Nokia (both small and regular version) ; partnumber: CONNECTOR-TIPS-NOKIA
#4. Motorola ; partnumber: CONNECTOR-TIPS-MOTOROLA
#5. Sony Ericsson ; partnumber: CONNECTOR-TIPS-SONY-ERICSSON
#6. Mini USB ; partnumber: CONNECTOR-TIPS-MINI-USB
#7. Samsung ; partnumber: CONNECTOR-TIPS-SAMSUNG
#8. Retractable cable set; partnumber: RETRACTABLE-CABLE-SET

I finally bougth this thing. After charging the unit, I used it as a portable battery with my iPhone 3GS: it works!
It allow to charge the iPhone when you're away from home. Great.
I'm going to test how this thing charges the iPhone 3Gs when plugged in the wall. I'll let you know.
