I finally got my license and my own car.
The problem with Mercedes C230 car is that it is hard to take out the stereo unit... It has aux output which is what I'm planning to connect my nano to it. Only problem is how to take out the unit.. Any idea/comment would be great. Thanks. Last edited by justinkoko; 09-11-2005 at 05:13 PM. |

Calm down, EVERYBODY in Germany drive Mercedes, and they sell Little Mercedes there that is not available in the U.S.

I tried posting my own car installation, but couldn't find the buttons to attach the pictures. I read somewhere in another thread that you have to have posted a number of messages before you can post pictures -- is that right?
Cool stuff in this thread, by the way.

Not everyone has an Mercedes here! German cars are also expensive in Germany! Even the "little" A-Class costs at least 17'000 Euros (new) A C230 cost over 32'000 Euros! As I already said once: I'm glad rich americans buy "our" cars so I don't have to feel bad for driving foreign cars ![]() But one thing is probably different here: Used BMWs are a car mostly driven by people with to much hair gel and who are rather posers and/or tuning-fanatics. So a used BMW not something like a "fancy" car!

I tried taking pictures, but it was too dark and the car light ruined the picture. I'll post mine tomorrow, it's just a wire that converts the CD-changer output into 2 RCA, which is connected to a mini plug which runs into the iPod.

I'm using the Dension ice>Link: Plus kit in my car. Works really well. And it will let me use the steering wheel/radio controls to control the iPod. No need to fiddle with the iPod buttons at all so it could be hidden away in the glove compartment or in the trunk or whereever. And it also displays the artist/song names on the radio display.
It was really simple to install as well. Took around 30 minutes in total. |

Maybe I am just cheap but I have been using a tape adapter and a DC adapter and there you go. But the whole interface thing on the steering wheel would convince me to upgrade.

i have a nissan primera at work, so it's not my car, and not my navigation system.
anyway.. my cheap blaupunkt navigation thing doesen't have line in, and i had an itrip, so problem solved. or even not, i had to put the ipod near the radio, to get more or less uninterrupted music. so what i did: took the cable-remote, which i didn't need anyway, and built an extension cable for my gen2 ipod. put the itrip below the radio and the ipod next to the handbrake, where it sits very good, and it prevents me from doing handbrake turns. next problem to solve was an electric one. i built a charger of a 12v voltage transformer (don't know if this is the right expression, an electric circuit that provides 12v if the input is somewhere between 12v and 18v). i've put that one into the center console, but it's connected to the cigarette lighter plug. yeah thats it, far from perfect, but in a car the only thing you worrie about if it get's stolen is your ipod it doesen't make much sense to invest more. here are some overlightet pics, sorry for the bad quality: or even not, because i'm not allowed to post links in here, kind of stupid.. nicobaumgartner.ch/diverses/IMG_7891.JPG nicobaumgartner.ch/diverses/IMG_7892.JPG nicobaumgartner.ch/diverses/IMG_7893.JPG nicobaumgartner.ch/diverses/IMG_7894.JPG Last edited by maxson; 11-14-2005 at 05:05 PM. |
