Senn cx-300 -fake V real

I've noticed they come in 2 different boxes/packaging. One says 'blocks outside noise' and the other which I saw in the local Uk store says 'in-ear canal' or something similar. Does anybody believe this may have further implications or is it simply differen packaging!

where did you see the one with the "blocks outside noise" on the internet?
check and make sure its a reputable place

the ones in the brick and martyr are real.

sometimes, its worth it to pay a couple bucks...er...pounds...so you know you have a genuine product

As we all know there are tons of people selling models that look like the CX300. As president of a mfgr company, I would ALWAYS buy the name brand versions from trusted sources (not ebay or from Asia). Even IF they are made at the same factory, the "non-branded" models may have not undergone the same QC procedures, reference sound curve specifications, or they may be rejects. I have seen many fake Sony models on ebay that we ordered when sampling the competition.

BTW - even the same earphone can have different specifications and vastly different sound curves. We have tweaked our drivers and housing considerably to meet our exact specifications to develop a reference sound curves. Even if our early prototypes look identical they sound way different from when we start. Some mfgrs totally neglect this altogether though, that's just dependent on their procedures and how much they care about the sound.

Some mfgrs only care about this on their higher-end models as well if they sell cheap and hi-end earphones.

At v-moda we have implemented the strictest mask procedures in the industry. "V-MASK" ensures sure each earphone meets our specs to within non-human hearable differences (+-3DB throughout the curve). Even though we dispose of 10-20% of our earphones that do not pass inspection, we know that the consumers will hear the same music as we specified (as long as they arent damaged in shipment).

I don't see any reason to doubt them. What's notable about the packaging is that a) they claim to be the Senns (ie they're not another headphone, like the creatives, which the seller's trying to pass off as Senns); and b) the difference in the packing is no accident (ie it's not something like a badly-printed logo). So I wouldn't be wary because of the packaging. (I might be wary because they're being sold cheap by a bloke on ebay, but that's another matter).

i bought a set of those on ebay. The packaging says "block outside noise". I dont have another pair of cx300's to compare to but when comparing to my mdrex71sl's, they are much better. So i dont really care if they are real or fake, as long as they sound good.

I agree, the sound quality is very good on mine so I'm not too bothered but just curious. Looking at the packaging, I think they're imported from Germany.

Hey,
I think this is only my second post or so...but I also ordered a set of cx300's off ebay. They have not arrived yet, but the picture has the same "Blocks Outside Noise" on it. I live in Canada, so I checked out one of the biggest Electronics Department Stores here, Best Buy (the only location that sells high-end earphones too), and they're selling the Senn CX300's for either $79.99 or $89.99 cad (cant remember), which is about 75-80 USD. The packaging on those also had the "Blocks Outside Noise" text on them, so Im not really too worried anymore. At first, after seeing that most reviews had pictures with the in-ear canal packaging, I was quite worried, but as soon as I saw these at Best Buy my worries decreased big time. Anyways, when I do receive them, Im probably going to buy a pair from Best Buy (the return them) and just compare the 2 to make sure they both sound reasonably identical.

I just bought cx300's off ebay and my package said "Blocks Outside Noise". Both the US and German versions of the Sennheiser Web Site featured the package as saying "In Ear Canal", but the UPC, EAN and Order numbers on my package all match exactly with the numbers featured on both versions of the Sennheiser Web Site. So the "Blocks Outside Noise" version may just be an alternate or an older package for the cx300s, as opposed to a fake. Just a thought.
