I have a 5G and my girlfriend has a 3G. I am looking for a device that will allow the transfer of photos from the camera to both the 5G and the 3G. Purely transferring data from the camera to the iPOD harddrive -- not to view the pictures on the 5G. It appears from reading the forums and the Apple website that the Camera Connector is not compatible with the 3G. I previously owned the Belkin Media Reader which worked fine on the 3G but after several vacations it broke and I also read that it was not compatible with the 5G.
Questions: 1. Why isn Last edited by mrnyc; 04-07-2006 at 02:14 PM. |

I think you will find the whole point of a camera is pictures and so such connectors would be pointless to a device that can not display the pictures.

While on vacation I want to be able to transfer the photos from the camera to the iPOD hard drive so I do not have to purchase/carry multiple camera media cards. So, for me such a device would not be pointless.
I still look forward to hearing from anyone with experience with using Belkin USB Anywhere and the 5G and/or 3G. Thank you Last edited by mrnyc; 04-07-2006 at 02:15 PM. |

This is conjecture upon my part, but the USB chipset in the Nano, 4G and 5G is two-way ( it can act as host for a camera, as well as a mass storage drive for a host PC orMac), and the 3G and lower, Mini, Shuffle, are USB "out" only.

Since I know nothing about chipsets I'm not disagreeing with your response but have a follow up question. How is that I can update the 3G connecting to my PC using a USB cable if the USB chipset on the 3G is "out" only? Or am I confusing the way the iPod works?
Thanks |
