• With the number of recent threads from brand new users that we have observed in our Classifieds forum selling goods under questionable circumstances, we have instituted a new policy restricting new members of iLounge from posting new threads in the Classifieds forum until they have reached "Regular Member" status.

New users become Regular Members once they have made 10 posts and been a member of the iLounge Forums for at least 7 days. Prior to this time, members may still read the Classifieds forum, and even respond to existing threads for items being sold by other members, but they may not create new threads advertising their own items for sale.

This will hopefully help to protect our user community by discouraging fraudulent users from signing up and posting classified ads without having at least a very basic level of established membership in our forums.

Obviously all users should still exercise due diligence when making use of our classifieds forums, but we hope that this restriction will help to decrease the number of blatantly fraudulent ads that we have been seeing in recent weeks.

Please be sure to review our Classified Forum Policy for more information.

So today, when I came out of my Monday mourning lecture at university, putting my earphones on I notice this girl coming up to with a T-shirt in front of my uni. At first I thought she was one of those annoying survey people, but I noticed there was more of them and then when I pulled my ear phone off she said 'it's iDont.com!' staring at the T-Shirt realising that there is an ape with white earphones. She gave it to me because I have black earphones.

This was not the first time I have come across iDont. Recently on the Tube they currently have an advertisement showing a sheep with earphones, a common reference that is often use on the net to mention iPod owners. Now what got me interest is what can this website be? After looking at it and reading it carefully, something tells me its a very clever marketing ploy by some very big company that is probably competing with Apple*cough*San Disk*cough*. If this was a small time iPod hating group they simply would not have the resources to backing advertising that I currently see, let alone giving free T-shirts to well thought of universities that specialise in design & fashion(perfect targets eh?)

If your interested here is the shirt:

Tell me your thoughts.

Is it some sort of anti iPod campaign?

TOM

I would say the Ultimate anti iPod campaign I have ever seen, considering most of them are only online and poorly designed.

I'm wondering if it actually is an anti iPod website, or just a clever marketing campaign by SanDisk to promote their MP3 player. The SanDisk player is the only one they recommend on the "Alternatives" page after all... when there are a lot of iPod alternatives out there.

Haha, that's ridiculous! Protest conformity by.. buying a sandisk instead! I guess when you're compteting with a player as good as the iPod you get pretty desperate.

You’ve seen them. They’re everywhere. Every bus, train and city sidewalk is a mass of white headphones. Blindly they’ve bought into the hype without ever realizing there are other mp3 players out there.
Yeah.. I understand that some people buy iPods to be cool (which is so not cool ;) ).. but thats not why I bought mine. I compared over 20 different players, and for the price, it was the best looking player with the most features. And it has by far the best interface of any MP3 player I've used.

I'm open to other products, but Apple has it down pretty good.

The iRiver clix actually looks pretty good... and I'd consider that if it came in a 30GB+ model. 2Gb is WAY to small. My 30GB iPod is even to small.. I need to upgrade to the 60 :p

I bet this goes over as big as the infamous "Lemmings" commercials. You don't gain new customers by insulting their intelligence or questioning their buying habits, you just #### people off.

This has got to be one of the most original marketing campaigns, even if it wasn't run by SanDisk. How can you not commend them for trying?

In a market where Apple have raised the bar, this is clear evidence that someone else is at least trying something original to try and entice new customers.

EDIT: Although I'm going to frown on them for using negative campaigning - that's soooo American.

Alright, some flash of creativity there, but my wild guess is that there wasting their advertising money.

I hear Creative filed another suit. Can't compete, sue 'em!

I agree with them.

It's getting really annoying that everyone, and i mean everyone has an iPod nowadays.

They dont even say MP3 players, which by the way, was a very incorrect term, but instead, they say iPods to refer to DAPs.

I don't blame them.

good idea and try San Disk but too bad you'll never take over Apple.

Out of my 3 mp3 players and cd players and mini-disc players, the iPod is the best, best design, best features, easiest to use etc.

I just think it's silly to be counter-culture over a DAP. Buy a Sandisk and you'll be a rebel! I say, give me a break.
