Yeah, it sucks that you can't find any people in these forums who understand good quality sound. Most of these people are using itrips and cassette adapters if that tells you anything. I'm just using an rca cable through the headphone jack for now though I'd like to have everything coming out of the dock port, but you can't get a straight answer about the quality from different products.
