Well that's kind of discouraging isn't it? When I first started working on my 3rd Gen iPod with the 2.4.20 kernel I didn't use documentation, mainly because it wasn't complete at the time. It came out fine, stable and all. If you know what you are doing then nothing will go wrong. It's not fair to say those who don't use the installer have a higher failure rate than success. In fact, when my nano comes in I plan on building the kernel in CVS repository again, the latest versions are stored there. Does this mean I will "break" my iPod, no not neccesarily.
