yes you can use a USB "2.0" cable on the USB 1.1 eMac... all USB devices are backwards compatible... I have a USB 1.1 eMac also, and USB 1.1 is suiting me fine... charge time is the same as 2.0 and I transferred 1.3 GB of music in 45 minutes or so... so to answer your question, your USB cable is more than adequate
