Wow! I don't know where jackonico or neb are coming from. As a teen, and therefore an observer of teen culture, rap is super popular, as is *cough*sadly*cough* Coldplay. I don't mind rap, and I hate Coldplay, but I still listen to them at school dances and the like, because they are popular.
No, teenage girls don't relate to " big pimpin' ", but they still sing along to "Baby Got Back," whether they relate to it or not. I think the biggest reason sales are down is because CDs are so effing expensive. Come on! Why spend 20 dollars for Ozomatli's Street Signs, when I can buy it for ten online.
I say make them $10 cheaper and it won't matter whether they're in a boring jewel case, or whether they're lit up with frickin' neon lights, people will still buy them.
As a side note, I still buy CDs because I like the material feel, I HAVE the case, I HAVE the booklet, and I HAVE the CD itself. Digital just isn't the same.
