Most over-rated piece of trash I've ever read, honestly. Some interesting ideas in it, sure, but the characters are cardboard, the dialogue is leaden, the plot is more predictable than an episode of Three's Company, and the interesting ideas are cribbed from others. You're not missing much.
If you want something in a similar vein which will challenge you, try Umberto Eco's "Foucault's Pendulum"... or if it's too esoteric for you, go to Brown's source and read "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" (can't remember the author).
