OK, I have about 300 CDs and I am going to copy most of them to my drive. I was just wondering if anyone knows how much space that would take if I copy them at 192 AAC? I am just looking for a ball park average.

I would guess around 6,500 songs.. I would say 30-35 Gigs probably. It's hard to guess because there are different amount of songs of CD's and they are different lengths.

Mmmmm idk.

I would say that each album is about 80 megs each (ripped)
So it would be 2,400 megabytes. or 2400 Megabyte (MB) = 2.34375 Gigabyte (GB)

There's an error in your calculation.

300 albums x 80 Megabytes = 24000 Megabytes

24000 Megabytes / 1024 Megabytes in 1 Gigabyte = 23.4375 Gigabytes

According to this equation, look for the file size of all your albums to total 23.5 GB. However, don't be surprised if your collection is in the 30 GB - 35 GB range.

Rough estimate:

50 minutes per album at 1.5MB/minute = 75MB per album.
75MB x 300 = 22,500MB (22.5GB)

Just remember that @128Kbps, it's 1MB/minute.
@192Kbps it's 1.5MB/minute. :)

Fecking decimal place. Apologies to the OP.
