iPod can't get out of disk mode...

soooooo, my computer recognizes the iPod when i plug it in, and i can copy files to it as if it were a hard drive, but this is the extent of what i can do with it for now....

the iPod always starts up in "Disk mode", which allows me to transfer files to it through my compuer (dragging and dropping), but obviously this is not the correct way to do things, and i cant listen to any of the mp3's i transfer this way.

the software updater gives me the error "can't mount ipod", even though the ipod is listed under "portable devices" in my computer. i can't get the ipod to be recognized in neither mediacenter nor jukebox...it only shows up as a removable drive.

i think i need to disable the "disk mode" because right now my computer seems to be recognizing it as nothing but another hard drive, and not an "iPod".

can anyone offer any help in disabling disk mode so that the ipod can be recognized by MC properly?
