"What would be the point? The shuffle is a music player. Not a thumb drive."
I'm not extremely skilled when it comes to the technical aspects of computing, but I work in a computer lab, get bored alot, screw around with my laptop, and eventually end up reinstalling windows. I have recently been carrying around a bootable linux CD for fixing my mistakes, but since I have my shuffle with me anyway, it would be handy to just keep DSL in my mini's file space and not have to worry about the CD. After all, the beauty of an MP3 player is that you don't have to carry around CDs for your music, so why not eliminate the need for other CDs too?
Besides, this is the "Hacks & Mods" section, so when reading here you sould probably expect to see people who use their iPods for more than just music.
About the bios settings, I have my bios set to check for USB drives right after CDs, but I think you have to set the drive to be bootable (the same way you have to tell CDs to be bootable) before it will work. I may be wrong though. Like I said, I'm pretty dumb when it comes to computers.
