I'm disappointed in my iTrip in the car too. I use it a lot at work, where I lay the iPod on my boom box, right next to the antenna and it really works well. But in the car it really sounds like crap. It's not even static, it's just a flat, unappealing sound to the music. I don't use it in the car anymore.
