THE BEST PURELY AA BATTERY (or AAA BATTERY) POWERED SYSTEMS. i dont like the seperate speakers, and i will spend almost unlimited money to find the best portable speakers for my ipod, it does not need to look all white and fancy "ipoddish" sound quality and BASS quality for rap/hip hop is KEY. thank you very much and any other portable speakers (one unit not two seperate speakers w/ good base) you can recommend will be greatly appreciated. bascailly im spending about 329.00 cdn + 55.00 cdn + 80 or something CDN for the belkin plus 129.00 or so for the portable speakers....gonna be well over 550.00 for all this so i want to get it RIGHT. also straight up what are the best cases for heavy canoe tripping, in tent, light rain conditions in and out of a raincoat? also its ####ty that ipod's dont work below - 4 degrees celsius for skiing but thats another thread. thanks to all the experts, dcmacnut will be on it i think :) !!!

No, the battery pack is plugged into the bottom of the iPod (mini) so it wouldn't be able to dock into the speakers.

The only thing I can think of is to plug the battery pack into the dock connector in the back of the speakers, since if you plug a docking cable into it you can charge/power the iPod, so you'd think the same thing can be done with the battery pack.

My advice would be to buy the battery pack and the speakers at somewhere you can bring them back if it doesn't work.

You aren't going to get that testosterone THUMP THUMP bass out of any portable speakers though. I have the Altecs and they're good, but bass isn't their strong point. You should get a pocket dock with line out and plug into a home stereo for maximum bs bass action.

See ya

I think you forgot to read his post. He's going canoeing, and is looking for AA-powered portable speakers.

kloan OK FINALLY THANKS THIS THREAD IS ALMOST COMPLETE, lol somebody finally directly awnsered the question. yes i could not see the immini altec's well in their site picture but your almost certainly correct i think that with the belkin AA pack attached they would NOT be able to load into the altec portables.

i was thinking the sony portables found here should be the best out, would you agree? also kloan i HATE the white ipod earbuds, are there any silver earbuds or any higher quality ones you can recommend, or anyone? thanks very much for all help

check the sony portable speakers:

http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/servlet/ProductDetailDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&productId=171874

129.99 canadian, a bit expensive but sony should last really long and be high quality AND be usable when powered by the ipod mini + AA belkin. give me an opinion on these portable speakers or better ones, i have unlimited money.

The Sony's look nice, definately a little expensive.. but if they sound good and you have unlimited money then that doesn't matter. :)

I still think it would be better if you could test the speakers out that you're interested in, by purchasing them from a store that will let you return them in case you don't like the sound. I've never been a fan of Sony speakers, so until I listen to those I honestly can't say for sure if they're worth getting.

For headphones, check out the Sony EX71. They come in black, and sound pretty darn good.. they're in-ear phones, but are very comfortable. The headphones section is a better place to get opinions though. Also check out http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/ since you will get a much better perspective on headphones.
