Tag and Rename for OSX?

I've just switched from IBM-Clone to Mac by purchasing a G5.

However, I used an awesome program to organize and rename mp3's, to pull tag information from the CDDB and Allmusic.com, and alot of stuff that iTunes doesn't do well.

Does anyone know of a program for OSX comparable to Tag and Rename?

I'm tempted to purchase Virtual PC just to keep running the IBM software.

you need to take time for discovering more functions behind the itunes. Tag and renames? surely, you can do with itunes. if you want some more specific program for 'tag and rename', then find similar one www.versiontracker.com

CDDB is one of functions in iTunes. go to advance, click get the CD names. that's it. I don't see any better program more than iTunes. well, it's just my opinion.

AFAIK, the following are what Tag and Rename can do that iTunes can't:

  1. Rename the actual filename based on the tag info.
  2. Extract tag information from the name of the mp3 file.
  3. Pull information about an album from allmusic.com
  4. Pull CDDB info for mp3's that were NOT ripped from a CD by iTunes. iTunes won't get CDDB info for an album if it's not ripped by iTunes.
    [/list=1]

Well, it looks like I'll be using Virtual PC.

I've never used Tag and Rename, but I'll check it out.

You could tried Audion. It's out of development, but you can edit the ID3 tags with it. Could be of some use, I guess.

No need for VPC: Media Rage does the same things as Tag and Rename.

Yup, that's it!

Actually the other product they have called Mp3 Rage does the mass file renaming and CDDB. Kinda wierd that they have Media Rage AND Mp3 Rage which mostly do the same thing.

I don't think the UI is as slick as Tag and Rename for the PC but it does the job :D
